The Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves face off on Friday night in Game 3 of the World Series at SunTrust Park.
The Braves offense got out the World Series to a fast start with a home run by Jorge Soler in the first at-bat in Game 1. The Braves also added two more runs in the third inning and that led to the victory. They finished with six runs and 12 hits while the Astros finished with two runs and eight hits.
In the second game, it was the Astros that got out to a fast start. They scored one run in the first inning, and four runs in the second inning. The Astros never looked back as they cruised to the 7-2 victory. The Astros had a balanced attack with no player having no more than one run driven in. Jose Altuve had two hits, two runs, and one RBI. Michael Brantley also had two hits and one run.
The best offensive player for the Braves this postseason has been Eddie Rosario who has hit three home runs and driven in 11 RBI’s. Joc Pederson and Freddie Freeman have also both hit three home runs.
Kyle Tucker has been the best offensive player for the Astros this offseason hitting four home runs and driving in 15 RBI’s. Jose Altuve has also hit four home runs and driven in eight RBI’s. In this game for the Astros, if they can get the bats going early, that will go a long way in getting the job done.
Luis Garcia gets the start for the Astros and after two terrible starts, he bounced back in a big way in the last game. He went 5.2 innings giving up only one hit and zero runs. In the two previous starts he went 3.2 innings total giving up ten runs.
On the other side of this matchup is Ian Anderson who gets the start for the Braves. Over his last three appearances, he has gone 12 innings total giving up nine hits and three runs.
The Astros are 1-4 in their last 5 interleague games as an underdog. The Braves are 5-0 in their last five playoff home games. The Astros are 6-1 in the last seven meetings.
Ian Anderson has been the more consistent pitcher, and I expect the home-field advantage is really going to help the Braves. Look for the Astros to struggle to score in this one, and the Braves will get the job done.
