The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros face off on Friday in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park. The Astros didn’t have a whole lot of issues against the Red Sox during the regular season winning five of the seven of the games.
The Red Sox had to win on the final day of the regular season to even make the playoffs, and now they are only four wins away from making the World Series. In the American League Wild Card, the Red Sox had no issue beating the New York Yankees 6-2. The Red Sox faced off with the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALCS and actually fell behind 1-0 in the series. The Red Sox scored zero runs in the first game. The next three games, the Red Sox scored a total of 26 runs and that led to three straight wins. The best batters this offseason has been Rafael Devers and Enrique Hernandez who have two home runs and six RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Houston Astros who were the second seed heading into the playoffs, and they had very little issues with the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS. Houston won three of the four games, and even in the game they lost, they still managed to score ten runs. To close out the series. Houston scored ten runs and came away with the victory. Kyle Tucker has continued his regular-season success in the postseason hitting two home runs and driving in seven runs. Mitchael Brantley, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa have all driven in four runs.
Getting the start for the Astros will be Framber Valdez and in his first postseason start, he struggled giving up seven hits and four runs. The Astros still won the game, but the Red Sox need him to be better.
The Red Sox are 7-1 in their last eight games. The Astros are 5-1 in their last six games overall. The Red Sox are 2-5 in their last seven meetings in Houston. The under is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings.
I don’t think Valdez is going to be any better in this game, and the Red Sox are going to take advantage of that. Look for plenty of runs to be scored by the Red Sox, and they will win this game big. Back the Red Sox -1.5.
