The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox face off on Monday in Game 4 of their MLB ALDS at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Astros won the first two games of the series, before the White Sox extended the series with a win in Game 3.
In each of the first two games it was the Astros offense that was the difference scoring a total of 16 runs. The pitching staff was also pretty good giving up only five runs in the two games. The Astros even fell behind in the second game, but still was able to come away with the victory.
In Game 3, the Astros offense still was good, the pitching really struggled, and that led to the 12-6 defeat. After the second inning, the White Sox were down 3-1, but they continued to chip away and later they cruised. The best player was Yasmani Grandal who finished with one hit, two walks, and three RBI’s.
All signs point towards Carlos Rodon getting the start for the White Sox in hopes they can avoid elimination for another game. Rodon is dealing with shoulder fatigue, and that has to be a concern again in this game. He comes into this game with a 13-5 record and an ERA of 2.37. In his last start against the Reds he went 5.1 innings giving up only one hit and zero runs.
The Astros are 4-1 in their last five games. The White Sox are 7-2 in their last nine games overall. The Astros are 1-5 in their last six meetings in Chicago. The Astros are 19-8 in their last 27 games against the White Sox. The over is 5-1 in the Astros last six games overall. The under is 6-1-1 in White Sox last 8 games as an underdog.
The White Sox have been a different team at home, and their offense looked impressive on Sunday. Rodon is coming off a strong start, and even if he gives up a few runs, the White Sox are going to give him enough run support in this game to get the job done. Back the White Sox on the money line.
