The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox face off in Game 3 of their ALDS at Guaranteed Rate Field. In the first game of this series, the Astros beat the White Sox 6-1. The Astros scored all six runs in their first five innings, and the White Sox didn’t score their first run until the 8th.
In the second game it was much of the same as the Astros were able to win 9-4. It was a back and forth game until the Astros scored five runs in the 7th. Kyle Tucker drove in three runs, and Yuli Gurriel and Carlos Correa both had two. Alex Bregman was also a key as he had two hits and added two runs. Luis Robert, Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal, and Eloy Jiminez all drove in a run. This is a talented White Sox team, they just haven’t gotten the pitching that they need to have success, and that is something that is going to need to change.
Getting the start for the Astros will be Luis Garcia who currently sits with an 11-8 record and an ERA of 3.30. One issue for Garcia is that he is coming off a really bad loss in his lost start. He went five innings against the Tampa Bay Rays giving up seven hits and six runs. He gave up two home runs and he needs to be better in this one.
Getting the start for the White Sox will be Dylan Cease and on the season he sits with a 13-7 record and an ERA of 3.91. Cease hasn’t gone more than five innings in any of his last three starts but he has given up only two runs total.
Astros are 4-0 in their last four games. The White Sox are 4-1 in their last five home playoff openers. The Astros are 1-4 in their last five meetings in Chicago. The Astros are 19-7 in their last 26 meetings against the White Sox.
The White Sox haven’t gotten good pitching so far this series, but that will change in this one. Cease is going to lock down the Astros, and the home team will also give him some run support. Back the White Sox on the run line.
