MLB Games on Saturday, September 18, 2021
We have a full slate of games on Saturday, September 18, 2021, with 30 teams set for some MLB regular season action. Check out our best picks below, as well as the updated betting odds.
Cleveland Indians +155 New York Yankees -180 Total: 8.5
Yankees rank fifth in the majors with a 3.73 ERA and they have the promising Luis Gil starting tonight. The Indians rank near the bottom of the league in all offensive categories, and they are under .500 on the road.
Pick: New York Yankees -180
Baltimore Orioles +225 Boston Red Sox -280 Total: 10.5
The Orioles’ pitching staff has been the worst in the majors with a 5.89 ERA. Nick Pivetta will get the start for Boston; he is 3-0 against the Orioles this season.
Pick: Boston Red Sox -280
Los Angeles Dodgers -200 Cincinnati Reds +170 Total: 9
Not only do the dodgers have the most efficient staff in the league, but their offense has also finally gotten back on track. Max Scherzer has not lost since joining the team, and Sonny Gray has had an inconsistent year for the Reds.
Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -200
Minnesota Twins +155 Toronto Blue Jays -180 Total: 9.5
Twins are a terrible road team and starter Bailey Ober has underwhelmed this season. Take the Blue Jays and their league best offense over the last week.
Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -180
Colorado Rockies +100 Washington Nationals -120 Total: 8.5
Colorado is one of the worst teams away from Coors Field. They have won less than 33 percent of their road games. The Nationals are unreliable, so stay away from this iffy game. Gun to my head; take the Nats with all the Rockies' road struggles.
Pick: Washington Nationals -120
Detroit Tigers +170 Tampa Bay Rays -200 Total: 8
The Tigers Tarik Skubal looked good in his last start against the Rays. The Rays Ryan Yarbrough has allowed seven runs in each of his last two appearances. Take the road dogs.
Pick: Detroit Tigers +170
Pittsburgh Pirates -110 Miami Marlins -110 Total: 7.5
Two of the worst teams in the league both hitting an abysmal .235 on the season. Take Miami simply because they are at home.
Pick: Miami Marlins -110
Chicago White Sox -240 Texas Rangers +195 Total: 8
The White Sox are the better team and will have Lance Lynn on the mound for this one. The Rangers' Spencer Howard has not ben good since joining the staff; he is 0-2 with an 11.81 ERA on the season. Lay the juice unless you are a masochist and enjoy giving away money.
Pick: Chicago White Sox -240
Arizona Diamondbacks +270 Houston Astros -350 Total: 8.5
This should be a solid pitchers’ duel between the Diamondbacks’ Tyler Gilbert and the Astros’ Lance McCullers Jr. Both have been sharp of late, but the Astros’ offense has continued to roll. They lead the league in hitting and should be able to get ahead in this one.
Pick: Houston Astros -350
Seattle Mariners -135 Kansas City Royals +115 Total: 9
Seattle’s Yusei Kikuchi; Mr. I can pitch one day then can’t find the strike zone the next. He had a good start last time out, so he will wet the bed in this one. The Royals offense has also been rolling over the last two weeks.
Pick: Kansas City Royals +115
Chicago Cubs +260 Milwaukee Brewers -335 Total: 7
The Brewers are extremely disappointing from the plate, but they have flamethrowers like Corbin Burnes to pick up the slack. They have won his last ten starts, including a 10-0 win over these Cubs.
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -335
Philadelphia Phillies -115 New York Mets -105 Total: 7.5
Both teams had high hopes this season, but we are down to the wire and both need this one to keep playoff hopes alive. The Mets should edge on the mound with Carlos Carrasco pitching. Aaron Nola has fallen off this season and has given up multiple runs in each of his last five starts.
Pick: New York Mets -105
San Diego Padres -115 St. Louis Cardinals -105 Total: 7
Adam Wainwright has not fallen off this year, as proven by his 16-7 record and 2.88 ERA. The Padres have disappointed this season, especially on the road where they are under .500. The Cardinals have a great chance to get the win as the home dogs.
Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -105
Atlanta Braves +120 San Francisco Giants -140 Total: 7.5
The Braves’ Charlie Morton has been efficient of late, going at least six innings with just six total runs allowed in his last three starts. The Giants have yet to name a starter for this one, but their bullpen has been one of the best in the league. Fade the total.
Pick: Under 7.5
Oakland Athletics -115 Los Angeles Angels -105 Total: 8.5
Oakland is the better team right now, with the Angels struggling to get it done from the plate. LA is averaging just under four runs per game with a .223 team average. The A’s are averaging over six runs per game over that same stretch.
Pick: Oakland Athletics -115
