It’s a lighter slate of games across the MLB on Thursday with only nine games taking place, but there is still money to be made. Let’s take a look at a free MLB pick on each of the games.
Colorado Rockies +156 at Atlanta Braves -170 Total: 8.5
This is a perfect chance to back the Colorado Rockies. Ian Anderson is on the mound for the Rockies and over his last eight innings pitched he has given up six runs. German Marquez has been a bit inconsistent, but he will be good enough in this game for the Rockies to pull off the upset.
Play: Rockies ML +156
Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are one of the worst offenses in baseball, and they aren’t going to start running up the score in this game. Tyler Mahle has been strong this year sitting with an 11-5 record overall and an ERA of 3.73. The Pirates aren’t going to score many runs and the Reds will win this game on the run line.
Play: Reds -1.5
Los Angeles Angels at Chicago White Sox
The Angels are really struggling coming into this game having lost six of their last ten games, and a big issue has been the offense. Heading into Tuesday’s game, the Angels had scored only eight runs in the previous three games. Reynaldo Lopez sits with an ERA of 2.05 and he will lock down the Angels. Back the White Sox
Play: Under
Oakland Athletics -125 at Kansas City Royals +105 Total: 9.5
I don’t really trust either of these offenses, but I do trust that both of these starting pitchers have been awful. The A’s send Paul Blackburn who sits with a 5.24 ERA. The Royals send Daniel Lynch to the mound and he sits with a 5.37 ERA. Look for both offenses to run up the score against these two pitchers, and the over will cash.
Play: Over
San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants
Kevin Gausman has been good this season, but hasn’t been as dominant as of late. Each of his last two starts he has given up three runs and even though the Padres offense has been inconsistent, it’s still loaded with talent. The Padres will find enough success to win this game on the money line.
Play: Padres ML
New York Yankees -234 at Baltimore Orioles +211 Total: 10
The Orioles have won 46 times, and this is a perfect opportunity for them to pick up their 47th. Chris Ellis has been good this year in limited action going 21.2 innings giving up only five runs. The Yankees have not been as dominant the last couple of weeks and the lack of scoring has been a reason why.
Play: Orioles ML +211
Chicago Cubs at Philadelphia Phillies
Kyle Hendricks is coming off a strong start, but overall this season he has really struggled. In the two previous starts Hendricks had gone 9.1 innings giving up 14 total runs. Against right handed pitchers, the Phillies are hitting .236 and they will tee off on Hendricks in this game. Back the Phillies on the run line.
Play: Phillies -1.5
Detroit Tigers +167 at Tampa Bay Rays -192 Total: 9
Dietrich Enns has been good this season for the Rays but he still doesn’t have a ton of MLB experience, and I don’t trust him playing this type of number. Tyler Alexander has done a good job of keeping the Tigers in games, and the Tigers actually have a better record than the Rays over their last ten games. Back the Tigers.
Play: Tigers ML +167
Houston Astros -218 at Texas Rangers +197 Total: 9
Lay as many runs as possible with the Astros. Glenn Otto gets the start for the Rangers and he has been hit hard and he sits with an ERA of 6.93. The Astros bats are going to run up the score again him. Back the Astros -4.5.
Play; Astros -4.5
