Thursday isn’t a full slate of MLB games but there are still ten games taking place. Let’s take a look at each of the games, and a free MLB pick to make you some money.
Los Angeles Angels -105 at Detroit Tigers -105 Total: 9
This might be the highest-scoring game on the entire site. Jose Quintana has been awful this year, and he sits with an 0-3 record and an ERA of 6.12. Matt Manning gets the start for the Detroit Tigers and he sits with a 3-5 record and an ERA of 6.10. Look for both teams to run up the score and the over is going to cash with ease.
Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are going to run up the score in this game against Jorge Lopez. Lopez comes into this game sitting with an ERA of 6.14. Look for the Rays to run up the score against Lopez, and this game is going to get out of hand early. Back the Rays -3.5.
Play: Rays -3.5
Oakland Athletics +120 at Chicago White Sox -141 Total: 9
Both of these teams have been playing pretty good baseball the last few weeks. In each of the last two starts, Dylan Cease has gone five innings and gave up three runs. I don’t trust the White Sox are going to give Cease a ton of run support, and that will mean they will struggle. Back the A’s on the money line.
Play: A’s ML
Seattle Mariners -149 at Texas Rangers +137 Total: 8.5
The Mariners are going to have no issue getting the job done in this game. Over the last ten games, Texas sits with a 3-7 record overall, and their offense has been a big issue for this team. Chris Flexen has been good for the Mariners, and he is going to lock down the Rangers offense. Back the Mariners on the run line.
Play: Mariners -1.5
Philadelphia Phillies -196 at Arizona Diamondbacks +178 Total: 8.5
Madison Bumgarner went through a rough patch this season, but he is pitching better as of late. Over Bumgarner’s last three starts he has gone 20.2 innings and given up only five runs total. Look for the D’Backs to find enough success with the offense and they will pull the upset.
Play: Diamondbacks ML +178
Houston Astros -183 at Kansas City Royals +168 Total: 9
The Kansas City Royals are going to need to score a lot of runs if they want to keep this game close. Mike MInor gets the start for the Royals and he has been awful this season. In each of the last three games, Minor has given up three runs. The Royals won’t get that run support, and the Astros will win this game on the run line.
Play: Astros -1.5
Miami Marlins at Cincinnati Reds
Luis Castillo has been a little more inconsistent as of late and two starts ago he gave up eight runs. The Marlins offense isn’t elite, but I think they will score enough runs in this game to get the job done. Back the Marlins to pull the upset.
Play: Marlins ML
Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees
Runs are going to be very hard to come by in this game. John Gant has been pitching better since joining the Twins, and their bullpen has also been playing a whole lot better. The Twins are also going to struggle against Jameson Taillon, and the under will cash.
New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers
Taijuan Walker’s last start came against the Los Angeles Dodgers going 6.2 innings giving up two hits and one run. In this game though, the Dodgers offense is going to get to him early and that will be the difference. The Mets offense is awful, and the Dodgers will win this game on the run line.
Play: Dodgers -1.5
Milwaukee Brewers -220 at St. Louis Cardinals +180 Total: 8
The Brewers have a big-time pitching advantage on the mound. The Cardinals send Jon Lester to the mound, and he isn’t the answer going against the Brewers. The Brewers are going to win this game in blowout fashion. Back the Brewers -4.5.
Play: Brewers -4.5.
