Arizona Diamondbacks Chicago Cubs Total:

The Diamondbacks are 0-7 in Zac Gallen’s last 7 starts, including a 4-2 loss last time they faced the Cubs. They are batting a collective .216 on the road this season, second worst in the majors. The Cubs Zach Davies has allowed just under 2 runs per game over his last 5 and will be backed by a bullpen that ranks 5th in the majors with a 3.42 ERA. Take the Cubs at home.

Pick: Chicago Cubs

Atlanta Braves +120 Philadelphia Phillies -130 Total: 7.5

This has the makings of a pitchers’ duel, with the Braves sending out Max Fried to face the Phillies Zack Wheeler. After a rough start to the year, Fried has looked much better in his last two starts including a 7-inning shutout of the Rays last time out. Wheeler has limited this Braves lineup to a .204 career average with 44 strikeouts in 150 at bats. Fade the total in this one.

Pick: Under 7.5

Washington Nationals -125 Baltimore Orioles +115 Total: 10

Both teams have underwhelmed this season, but the Nationals have been heating up from the plate. They lead the league with a .330 average over the last week and will face a struggling Jorge Lopez in Baltimore. He has not made it out of the 5th inning in his last 4 starts, averaging just under 4 runs allowed in each. Back the Nationals on the road.

Pick: Washington Nationals -125

New York Yankees -111 Boston Red Sox +101 Total: 8.5

The Yankees will send out their ace Gerrit Cole on Friday, hoping to continue their recent success against the Red Sox. Cole has allowed just 1 run in his last 15 innings, including a 3-1 win against the Red Sox in his last start. On the flip side, the Yankees will face lefty Eduardo Rodriguez; they rank 5th in home runs and OPS against lefties this season. Give me the Yankees to get it done in Boston.

Pick: New York Yankees -111

San Diego Padres Miami Marlins Total:

The Padres’ Joe Musgrove has allowed 10 runs over his last 14.1 innings, and they have lost all three of those games. On the flip side, the Marlins Zach Thompson has allowed just 6 runs across 6 starts, boasting an impressive 1.00 WHIP. He will also have the luxury of facing this Padres lineup for the first time. San Diego has impressed this season but are a .500 team on the road. Back the Marlins with good value as the home dogs.

Pick: Miami Marlins

St. Louis Cardinals +143 Cincinnati Reds -153 Total: 10

The Cardinals lefty Wade LeBlanc has been pitching well since being inserted into the rotation, allowing 5 runs over 18 innings. The Reds have not done well against southpaws, with a .228 average this season. The Reds Tyler Mahle has allowed over a hit per inning in his last 5 starts, and they are 1-4 in those games. Take the Cardinals on the road.

Pick: St. Louis Cardinals +143

Tampa Bay Rays Cleveland Indians Total:

Rich Hill has pitched better than expected for the Rays this season and looked sharp in his last start against the Indians. The Indians Zach Plesac has also pitched well and has done a better job at home. With both offenses also struggling, back the under in this one.

Pick: Under

Toronto Blue Jays +110 New York Mets -121 Total: 9

The Mets Tylor Megill has gotten better in each of his first 5 professional starts and will face off with another reliable arm in Hyun Jin Ryu. Both teams are swinging the bat well of late, with the Mets ranking 1st and Toronto 2nd in home runs over the last 7 days. The edge goes to the Mets in this one, with a 67%-win rate at home this season.

Pick: New York Mets -121

Los Angeles Angels -105 Minnesota Twins -105 Total: 10

Minnesota’s starter J.A. Happ has given up 8 home runs in his last 5 starts and will face an Angels lineup that has feasted on lefties this year. They rank 4th with 45 home runs and 2nd with a .785 OPS against southpaws. Look for the Angels to put up some crooked numbers in this one.

Pick: Los Angeles Angels -105

Chicago White Sox +105 Milwaukee Brewers -115 Total: 7.5

Chicago’s Lucas Giolito is coming off a gem against the Astros; he tossed 9 innings allowing just 1 run and 3 hits with 9 strikeouts. However, he has been much worse on the road, with a 4.98 ERA and the White Sox going just 1-2 in his last three starts. The Brewers have been solid at home and will send out Freddy Peralta who has a 2.04 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in Milwaukee this season. Back the Brewers at home.

Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -115

Detroit Tigers +110 Kansas City Royals -121 Total: 10

The Tigers have been swinging the bat well of late, ranking 4th with a .301 average over the last week. They will also send out arguably their best starter Wily Peralta. He has allowed just 1 run in his last 5 starts and has only given up 3 hits in 16 career at-bats against this Royals lineup. Take Detroit with better value on the road.

Pick: Detroit Tigers +110

Texas Rangers +210 Houston Astros -240 Total: 9

The Rangers Kolby Allard has limited this Astros lineup to a .168 career average, while the Astros’ Jake Odorizzi has limited the Rangers to a .235 average. With both teams struggling from the plate over the last two weeks (Texas ranks 30th in average and Houston 29th), expect runs to be hard to come by in this one. Fade the total.

Pick: Under 9

Pittsburgh Pirates +162 San Francisco Giants -177 Total: 8.5

Over the last two weeks, the Pirates lead the majors with a .304 average, while scoring 4.9 runs per game. The Giants Johnny Cueto has struggled against this Pittsburgh lineup, allowing a .406 career average and .959 OPS. The Pirates Chad Kuhl has allowed just 7 runs in his last 5 starts, and they have gone 4-1 in those games. Take a chance on the Pirates on the road.

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +162

Colorado Rockies Los Angeles Dodgers Total:

The Dodgers David Prices has pitched well this year and has done even better as a starter. He has allowed just 1 run in his last 2 starts, averaging a strikeout per inning. The Rockies have been terrible on the road, while Los Angeles is one of the best at home. Take the Dodgers to cruise to an easy win.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5

Oakland Athletics -111 Seattle Mariners +101 Total: 7.5

Oakland has not been scoring a lot of runs of late, ranking last in the majors in scoring over the last 30 days. The Mariners are hitting .372 all-time against the Athletics starter Frankie Montas and have been averaging over 5 runs per game over the last week. Seattle’s Yusei Kikuchi got the win in his only start against the A’s this year, going 6 innings and allowing just one run. Give me Seattle to get it done at home.

Pick: Seattle Mariners +101
