28 of 30 teams are in action on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 in the MLB. With 15 games on the schedule, let's take a look at each games' odds, as well as free betting picks for each contest.
Baltimore Orioles +145 Tampa Bay Rays -165 Total: 8
With the Orioles' Keegan Akin and the Rays' Michael Wacha on the mound, I think we naturally see a good amount of runs. I expect the Rays to win, but I think the better play is on the over.
Pick: Over 8
(Game One) San Diego Padres -160 Atlanta Braves +140 Total: 7.5
I think the Padres are going to sweep this doubleheader on the road, as the Braves are in a strange spot and San Diego is just the stronger team. I do not trust the Braves' Kyle Muller in this spot and think the Friars do some damage in game one.
Pick: San Diego Padres ML
New York Mets -135 Cincinnati Reds +115 Total: 11
The Mets' Marcus Stroman has been inconsistent as of late and that does not bode well at Great American Ballpark. The Reds' Jeff Hoffman has an ERA above 4.50 and I think both teams score a ton on Thursday night.
Pick: Over 11
Kansas City Royals +143 Milwaukee Brewers -166 Total: 9.5
The Royals' Brad Keller is back under 6.00 but that is not going to be good enough against the Brewers on the road. The Royals as a team have been one of the worst road squads in the league and I think the Brewers take this one.
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -166
Seattle Mariners -110 Colorado Rockies -110 Total: 11.5
The Mariners' Kenyan Middelton and the Rockies' Austin Gomber are the projected starters for this one. I am going to take the Rockies here with Gomber as I trust him at Coors Field more than I do the Mariners and Middleton.
Pick: Colorado Rockies -110
Pittsburgh Pirates +110 Arizona Diamondbacks -130 Total: 9
The battle of the basement dwellers is almost over and in this game, I like the Buckos with Chad Kuhl on the mound. The Diamondbacks' Madison Bumgarner has allowed too many home runs this season for me to faithfully back him here.
Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +110
(Game Two) San Diego Padres -115 Atlanta Braves -105 Total: TBA
Like I mentioned before, I think San Diego has a great shot at sweeping the doubleheader on Thursday. I will also take the Padres in game two facing off against the Braves' Charlie Morton.
Pick: San Diego Padres -115
Miami Marlins -105 Washington Nationals -115 Total: 8.5
We are getting the Marlins' Sandy Alcantara at a great price on the road. The Nationals' Erick Fedde has shown some signs of promise this season but is still not where he needs to be for me to lay any price with him.
Pick: Miami Marlins -105
Boston Red Sox +143 Toronto Blue Jays -166 Total: 10.5
I think this game gets ugly for the AL East leaders in the Red Sox. Garrett Richards has really struggled and Robbie Ray has had a great 2021 campaign with the Jays. I will lay the run line with Toronto to try and get some plus money here.
Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5
Texas Rangers -105 Detroit Tigers -115 Total: 9.5
This is a tight one for me and one that I am not rushing to the window for. Both starters (Rangers' Jordan Lyles and Tigers' Matt Manning) have not fared too well this season. If I had to choose, I would take the Rangers and Lyles getting the slightly better price.
Pick: Texas Rangers -105
Philadelphia Phillies +105 New York Yankees -125 Total: 10
The Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski will make his team debut against the Phillies' Matt Moore. We have two pitchers I am not in love with and I think the result is an offensive shootout. I will take the over.
Pick: New York Yankees -125
Chicago Cubs -110 St. Louis Cardinals -110 Total: 8
I think the Cardinals have some good value with one of their more reliable starters pitching at home. Adam Wainwright pitches deep into games for St. Louis and I look for him to make the difference in a close division battle.
Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -110
Cleveland Indians +210 Houston Astros -250 Total: 9
The Indians are in trouble on Thursday in my opinion and to me, the only viable play is on the Astros' run line. Perhaps take a look at the alternate run lines available at your book as I think this one is all Houston.
Pick: Houston Astros -1.5
Minnesota Twins +115 Chicago White Sox -135 Total: 9
I do not trust the Twins' Michael Pineda one bit on the road in this spot. The White Sox are hitting and I think they make it a very short night for Pineda at home.
Pick: Chicago White Sox -135
San Francisco Giants +155 Los Angeles Dodgers -180 Total: 8.5
I am going to take a shot with the Giants here as they are far too undervalued by the books in this spot. Sure, Julio Urias has been solid for Los Angeles but has he been untouchable? I do not believe so and I think the value we are getting is too good to pass up here.
Pick: San Francisco Giants +155
