There are 13 games on the schedule in Major League Baseball this Thursday, July 1st, 2021. Let's take a look at the odds as well as the free betting picks for the games in the MLB.
Los Angeles Angels +145 New York Yankees -170 Total: 10
I trust Jordan Montgomery of the Yankees a lot more than I do Griffin Canning of the Angels in this spot. Monty has pitched well as of late and the Yankees are in full-blown desperation mode for this homestand.
Pick: New York Yankees -170
Seattle Mariners +170 Toronto Blue Jays -200 Total: 9.5
I think the Mariners are worth a shot here with Kikuchi on the mound. The Blue Jays' Hyun Jin Ryu has not been as sharp as we have seen him before and the Mariners are getting great value on the money line as the road dog.
Pick: Seattle Mariners +170
Kansas City Royals +200 Boston Red Sox -235 Total: 10
It looks like Kris Bubic will start for the Royals and Nathan Eovaldi will go for the Red Sox. I do not like the way the Royals are playing as of late and I think this is a case of Boston or pass.
Pick: Boston Red Sox -235
Minnesota Twins +120 Chicago White Sox -140 Total: 8
I am going to side with the White Sox here and Carlos Rodon. The Twins' Jose Berrios has control issues and the White Sox are the type of team to exploit that, especially at Guaranteed Rate Field where they are more than 15 games over .500.
Pick: Chicago White Sox -140
Texas Rangers +150 Oakland Athletics -175 Total: 8
I think we see another low-scoring game between the Rangers' Dane Dunning and the Athletics' Sean Manaea. I like the under in this contest, as runs should be at a premium.
Pick: Under 8
Miami Marlins +115 Philadelphia Phillies -135 Total: 8
The Marlins' strong rotation was built for games like these. I think this is a mismatch on the mound and we are getting the better starter in the Marlins' Pablo Lopez at a plus money price. I will take Miami here.
Pick: Miami Marlins +115
Los Angeles Dodgers -145 Washington Nationals +125 Total: 9.5
I expect plenty of runs from both teams in this one, as I do not expect either the Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin or the Nationals' Patrick Corbin to last very long in this one. The Nationals' bats are on fire and I expect plenty of runs in this contest.
Pick: Over 9.5
Milwaukee Brewers -240 Pittsburgh Pirates +205 Total: 8
The Pirates have been better at home than on the road but I do not think they get to the Brewers' Corbin Burnes in this one. There is not a ton of value to be seen with Milwaukee as the heavy favorite, so I will take an alternate spread at -2.5 to get some better odds here.
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -2.5
Houston Astros -180 Cleveland Indians +155 Total: 8.5
The Astros' Framber Valdez has been fantastic this season and the Indians should be in big trouble at home here. I expect the Astros' bats to be firing on all cylinders and I think a blowout win is in the cards for Houston.
Pick: Houston Astros -1.5
San Diego Padres -112 Cincinnati Reds -108 Total: 9.5
I am going to take a shot with the home team in the Reds here. Cincinnati's Luis Castillo has pitched well in recent outings and I trust him more than I do the Padres' Ryan Weathers on the road.
Pick: Cincinnati Reds -108
New York Mets -170 Atlanta Braves +145 Total: 6
I am going to take deGrom and the Mets on the road here. Any time you can get deGrom at under -200, I think it is a bargain. The Mets were destroyed on Wednesday by Atlanta but they did not have to use too many arms out of the pen in the loss. I think deGrom shines and the bats do just enough on the road.
Pick: New York Mets -170
St. Louis Cardinals -140 Colorado Rockies +120 Total: 11.5
The Rockies play like a playoff team at home and a lottery team on the road. At Coors Field getting plus money, this is where I am comfortable taking the Rockies. I will side with Colorado in what should be a high-scoring game.
Pick: Colorado Rockies +120
San Francisco Giants -140 Arizona Diamondbacks +120 Total: 9
Home or away, the Diamondbacks have been abysmal this season. I cannot put my money on a lifeless team, and that is why I have to side with the Giants on the road here. Cueto has been inconsistent for San Francisco but he should be able to do enough here for SFG.
Pick: San Francisco Giants -140
