Friday is a full slate of MLB games, and that means there is plenty of value across the board in terms of free MLB picks. Let’s take a look at a free MLB pick on each game to make your day a winning one.
Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets - Game 1
Since this is a doubleheader, this game will only be seven innings long. Taijuan Walker has been having a strong season, but he is coming off a terrible start against the Washington Nationals where he gave up ten hits and four runs. I expect Walker is going to have a bounce-back, and the Mets will come away with the victory.
Play: Mets ML
Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets - Game 2
Getting the start for the New York Mets in Game 2 will be David Peterson, and he is going to struggle to get the job done in this game. Peterson sits with an ERA of 5.31 and the Phillies are going to run up the score against him. Back the Phillies on the money line.
Play: Phillies ML
Colorado Rockies +195 at Milwaukee Brewers -233 Total: 7.5
Corbin Burnes only has a 2.62 ERA but he sits with a 3-4 record overall which means the Milwaukee Brewers aren’t giving him a whole lot of run support. In this game, look for that to be the case again, and this game will be very low scoring. Back the under to cash.
Play: Under 7.5
Baltimore Orioles +191 at Toronto Blue Jays -210 Total: 11
Matt Harvey gets the start for the Baltimore Orioles, and that is bad news for them. Harvey currently sits with a 3-9 record and an ERA that is creeping up near eight. Look for Harvey to get hit hard by a strong Blue Jays offense, and for this game to be out of control early. Back the Blue Jays to win this game on the run line. This is a game where -2.5 with the Blue Jays also has value.
Play: Blue Jays -1.5
New York Yankees -120 at Boston Red Sox +110 Total: 10
The Yankees offense has been inconsistent at times, but they have figured it out as of late. Over the last two games, the Yankees have scored 14 runs total and they are going to find success against Martin Perez. Domingo German hasn’t been great as of late and over the last two starts he has given up 11 runs total. Look for plenty of offensive success by both teams, and the over will cash with ease.
Play: Over 10
Houston Astros -261 at Detroit Tigers +233 Total: 9.5
There really isn’t a lot of value for the Houston Astros, but there is really no other way to bet on this game. The Astros offense has been elite and now they get a chance to beat on Wily Peralta who sits with an ERA of 7.11. The Astros will have no issues winning this game,on the run line.
Play: Astros -1.5
Los Angeles Angels at Tampa Bay Rays
These are both teams who have struggled over the last few weeks, with the two teams combining to win seven games total over their last 20. Even though the Rays have struggled as of late, the offense has been strong as of late, Griffin Canning sits with an ERA of 5.07, and the Rays offense is going to get to him. Back the Rays to get the job done.
Play: Rays ML
Atlanta Braves at Cincinnati Reds
The Reds have the advantage on the mound in this game. Vladimir Gutierrez gets the start for the Cincinnati Reds and he sits with a 3-1 record and an ERA of 3.86. He gave up five runs in his last start, but he is going to bounce back in this game. Back the Reds to get the job done on the money line.
Play: Reds ML
Washington Nationals +120 at Miami Marlins -130 Total: 7.5
Jon Lester hasn’t been getting a ton of run support, but he has been pitching better as of late. Over Lester’s last three starts he has given up only five runs total. Getting the start for the Marlins will be Pablo Lopez and coming into this game he sits with a 2.86. The Marlins offense has been an issue for most of the season. Look for both teams to struggle to score and the under will cash.
Play: Under
Kansas City Royals -107 at Texas Rangers -101 Total: 8
There are a lot of better plays on the board because neither of these teams can really be trusted. Over the last 20 games, the two teams have combined for only six wins. Both of these two teams are in the bottom half of the MLB in terms of scoring. Even though both starters aren’t great in this game, the offenses are worse. Back the under to cash.
Play: Under
Seattle Mariners +156 at Chicago White Sox -170 Total: 8
The White Sox aren’t going to need to score many runs to get the job done in this game. Carlos Rodon gets the start for the White Sox and coming into this game he sits with a 6-2 record and an ERA of 1.83. The White Sox will have enough offensive success, and they will come away with the victory on the run line.
Play: White Sox -1.5
Cleveland Indians +115 at Minnesota Twins -125 Total: 9.5
The Minnesota Twins send Randy Dobnak to the mound, and he comes into this game with a 1-6 record and an ERA of 7.83. Dobnak was better in his last start, but he still can’t be trusted, and the Indians’ offense is going to run up the score. The Indians will win this game on the money line, and they are worth a look on the reverse run line at -1.5
Play: Indians ML
Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals
Kwang Hyun Kim has one of the oddest stats line of any pitcher this season. Kim comes into this game with a 1-5 record but a low ERA of 3.60. The Cardinals have not been giving Kim a ton of run support this season, and that will continue in this game. Look for both teams to struggle to score and that will lead to the under cashing.
Play: Under
Oakland Athletics -125 at San Francisco Giants +105 Total: 8.5
The early money has come in on the Giants, but that is the wrong way to look at this game. There is no doubt the Giants have played well this season, but so are the Athletics who are 6-4 over their last ten games. Johnny Cueto has been inconsistent, and the Athletics are going to get to him in this game. Back the A’s on the money line.
Play: A’s ML
Arizona Diamondbacks +220 at San Diego Padres -265 Total: 8.5
There is no value on either side of this game, so this play has to be a total. The Padres have a juicy matchup for their bats going against Corbin Martin. Look for the Padres offense to increase his already high ERA, and they might hit this over by themselves. Back the over.
Play: Over
Chicago Cubs +150 at Los Angeles Dodgers -169 Total: 9
The best play on the board is the Dodgers on the run line. Jake Arrieta has been involved in a lot of decisions this year sitting with a 5-8 record and an ERA of 5.45. Look for the Dodgers to hit him hard, and that will lead to Dodgers winning this game on the run line.
Play: Dodgers -1.5
