Chicago White Sox -156 Pittsburgh Pirates +143 Total: 8
The White Sox's Dylan Cease is coming off one of the worst starts in his career and the Pirates' Chase De Jong has not been the sharpest either. I think the White Sox score plenty of runs, and do not be surprised to see the Buckos show some offensive promise also.
Pick: Over 8
Washington Nationals -115 Philadelphia Phillies -105 Total: 8.5
Before the season started, this would have been a pitching matchup I would have circled on my calendar to take the over. The fact is, the Nationals' Erick Fedde has not been horrid and neither has the Phillies' Vince Velasquez in spots. I will take the more consistent starter in Fedde and the Nationals.
Pick: Washington Nationals -115
St. Louis Cardinals -120 Detroit Tigers +100 Total: 9
I am one to fade the Cardinals' John Gant, as he walks too many batters to find significant success in the league. The Tigers do not always look pretty but have proven to be a sneaky and valuable dog play this year. I will take them at home here getting the plus money.
Pick: Detroit Tigers +100
Milwaukee Brewers -175 Arizona Diamondbacks +150 Total: 8
Talk about not looking pretty. The Diamondbacks are without a doubt the worst team in the league and I do not think things get easier when facing the Brewers' Brandon Woodruff. Arizona's Caleb Smith has pitched well this season, but his team has not backed him up.
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -175
San Francisco Giants -110 Los Angeles Angels +102 Total: 8
This is a very exciting pitching matchup we have on our hands here. The Giants' Kevin Gausman has been sensational and we all know what the Angels' Shohei Ohtani can do. With Ohtani having to do the pitching duties, it makes taking the under that much easier.
Pick: Under 8
Colorado Rockies -115 Seattle Mariners -105 Total: 8.5
The Rockies have been a miserable road team this season, let's face it. The Rockies' German Marquez was not sharp last season in Seattle, and I think the Mariners get to him in this spot again. I will take the home dog in Seattle with Justus Sheffield on the mound.
Pick: Seattle Mariners -105
Kansas City Royals +150 New York Yankees -175 Total: 10
The Royals have not announced an official starting pitcher, but Danny Duffy is listed as probable. I think the Yankees' bullpen is going to be the difference-maker in this one. Eventually, I think the decision to have Michael King start/open games for the Yanks is going to pay off in the win column.
Pick: New York Yankees ML
Houston Astros -190 Baltimore Orioles +165 Total: 10.5
The Orioles' struggles this season have been due to their inability to keep other teams off the scoreboard. The Astros' have one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball, and I think Houston does some damage at the dish early and often. The O's should be able to put a few on the board as well, leaning me to take the over.
Pick: Over 10.5
Atlanta Braves -102 New York Mets -116 Total: 8.5
The Mets have not announced a starting pitcher for this game, so be sure to check back soon for updates. I am going to roll with TBD here, as Kyle Wright is projected to go for Atlanta. Wright has just not panned out for the Braves, and I think the Mets' bats wake up for him in this spot. UPDATE: Tylor Megill is the projected starter for the Mets in this contest. Megill pitched well in AAA and AA in the eight games he has seen in the minors. Megill is a prospect for New York and will make his Major League debut.
Pick: New York Mets -116
Boston Red Sox +125 Tampa Bay Rays -145 Total: 8.5
The Rays have not looked sharp as of late, but I do think the difference that Wander Franco brings to the lineup is going to be seen in a hurry. The Red Sox' Garrett Richards has struggled after a strong start to the year, and I think Tampa Bay does enough damage early on to grab a victory at home.
Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -145
Toronto Blue Jays -135 Miami Marlins +115 Total: 7.5
The Blue Jays are more than likely going to use a bullpen game here, which may not be the best idea considering how Toronto's pen has struggled as of late. The Marlins' Trevor Rogers is still flying well under the radar and should be able to bring his team a win at home. UPDATE: It looks like Robbie Ray is the projected starting pitcher for Toronto. The pick remains Marlins money line.
Pick: Miami Marlins +115
Oakland Athletics -150 Texas Rangers +130 Total: 9
The Rangers' Mike Foltynewicz is 1-7 and has not fared well in recent outings. The Athletics' James Kaprielian has control issues and may need some more time to develop into the starting pitcher Oakland wants him to be. I see runs O' plenty in this contest, so I will take the over.
Pick: Over 9
Los Angeles Dodgers -110 San Diego Padres -110 Total: 7.5
We have yet another fantastic pitching matchup between two heated rivals on Wednesday. The Dodgers' Trevor Bauer and the Padres' Joe Musgrove. I think the Padres have the advantage of being at home where they are 26-14 on the year. Other than his last start, Bauer has been hit rather hard lately. I expect the Paders' bats to be amped up and ready to go for this one, a divisional contest that could be a difference-maker towards the end of the season. I will take the Padres here.
Pick: San Diego Padres -110
