There are 14 games scheduled for Friday, May 28th, 2021 in Major League Baseball. With plenty of great value on the board, let’s take a look at each game’s odds as well as some free betting picks.
Cincinnati Reds +134 Chicago Cubs -143 Total: TBA
I cannot lay a -143 price with Adbert Alzolay, even at home. The Reds' Vladimir Gutierrez will make his MLB debut for Cincy and I will back him at the plus money price on the road.
Pick: Cincinnati Reds +134
Colorado Rockies -120 Pittsburgh Pirates +110 Total: 7.5
Both of these teams have struggled as of late and may fight for last place in the National League at the end of the season. I trust the Rockies' Jon Gray a tad more than I do the Pirates' Mitch Keller. I will lean towards the Rockies in this one.
Pick: Colorado Rockies -120
Milwaukee Brewers +120 Washington Nationals -110 Total: 9.5
We have two weak starting pitchers in the Brewers' Brett Anderson and the Nats' Jon Lester. I expect plenty of offense from both sides and this is the type of game you would want to bring a glove to the park. I like the over.
Pick: Over 9.5
Atlanta Braves -140 New York Mets +130 Total: 6.5
The Mets are beaten and battered with the injury bug and because of that, I have to side with the Braves here. Atlanta's bullpen has not been nearly as weak as it was at the beginning of the season, which is crucial for the Braves to win the NL East.
Pick: Atlanta Braves -140
Miami Marlins +125 Boston Red Sox -135 Total: 9
Although I am not big on the Red Sox's Martin Perez, the Red Sox's lineup is too strong for me to pass them up here. I will take Boston on the money line at home.
Pick: Boston Red Sox -135
New York Yankees -230 Detroit Tigers +207 Total: 7.5
This could be the most public play on the board, but I have to take the Yankees with Gerrit Cole on the mound here. The Tigers' Casey Mize should be in trouble against this experienced Yankees lineup. I will lay the run line with the Bronx Bombers here.
Pick: New York Yankees -1.5
Toronto Blue Jays -140 Cleveland Indians +130 Total: 8.5
With Toronto's ace on the mound in Hyun Jin Ryu, I like the Jays to find a road victory at Cleveland here. The Jays are three games above .500 on the road this season and I think they find their 16th victory away from home here.
Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -140
Baltimore Orioles +192 Chicago White Sox -208 Total: 9
The Orioles are struggling but I do think they keep this game close. The White Sox's Dallas Keuchel has not been sharp this season and I think Baltimore takes advantage of that early. Matt Harvey and the O's pitching staff just needs to be decent for the Orioles to find a run line cover here as the road dog.
Pick: Baltimore Orioles +1.5
Kansas City Royals +130 Minnesota Twins -140 Total: 9
The Twins are still far behind in the AL Central standings, but I do think this team is talented enough to start putting more and more wins together. That starts on Friday, as I think Minnesota's Randy Dobnak does enough in his short outing to keep the Twins competitive.
Pick: Minnesota Twins -140
San Diego Padres -115 Houston Astros +105 Total: 8.5
This should be a great series between two tough teams, and I think we see some fireworks in the first game of this series. The Padres' Dinelson Lamet has been sharp, but he does not pitch deep into games. I expect both teams to score plenty of runs late to push this game over the total.
Pick: Over 8.5
Los Angeles Angels +130 Oakland Athletics -140 Total: 8
I have to fade the Angels' Alex Cobb in this spot, as the A's should be able to take advantage of him early. Cobb has had a walk issue so far this season, and the A's are the team to make him pay. I like Oakland on Friday night.
Pick: Oakland Athletics -140
St. Louis Cardinals +102 Arizona Diamondbacks -111 Total: 9
The Diamondbacks are slumping hard but I do think they find a win on Friday against these Cardinals. Madison Bumgarner for Arizona has been a completely different pitcher than he was at the start of this season. I do not trust the Cardinals' Johan Oviedo on the road, so I will side with the home team.
Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -111
San Francisco Giants +155 Los Angeles Dodgers -180 Total: 7.5
I think all the value is on the road dog in the San Francisco Giants in this one. We have to strong pitchers in the Giants' DeScalfani and the Dodgers' Walker Buehler. I think we see a tight pitcher's duel in which the sneaky Giants pull out a win late.
Pick: San Francisco Giants +155
Texas Rangers +100 Seattle Mariners -120 Total: 9
With two pitchers that have ERAs over 5.00 in the Rangers' Jordan Lyles and the Mariners' Justus Sheffield, expect plenty of offense between two teams not necessarily known for doing damage at the dish. This could be a breakout game offensively for both sides, and I like the over.
Pick: Over 9
