It’s a nice slate of games across the MLB on Thursday and there are plenty of free MLB picks to make you money. Let’s break down and give a free MLB pick on each of the games.
Colorado Rockies at New York Mets Game 1
The Colorado Rockies and New York Mets are facing off in a doubleheader on Thursday after Wednesday’s game was postponed. German Marquez has been pitching better each of his last three starts and Marcus Stroman has been strong all season sitting with an ERA of 2.75. The Mets offense has been terrible this season and the under is going to cash. Back the under.
Philadelphia Phillies +125 at Miami Marlins -145 Total: 7
The Miami Marlins have a big advantage on the mound, and the Phillies' lack of scoring is going to let them down big time. At home this season, Pablo Lopez sits with an ERA of 0.61 and he is going to lock down the Phillies in this one. Back the Marlins on the money line.
Play: Marlins ML
Chicago Cubs -133 at Pittsburgh Pirates +123 Play: 8
These are two teams heading in different directions, and it’s not going to change in this game. Look for Cubs offense to chase Tyler Anderson early, and they will continue to run up the score against the bullpen of the Pirates.
Play: Cubs ML
San Diego Padres -137 at Milwaukee Brewers +114 Total: 8
The Brewers offense isn’t great this season and they are going to struggle to score again in this game. Ryan Weathers is on the mound and coming into this game he sits with a 2-1 record and an ERA of 1.48. Look for the lack of scoring by the Brewers to let them down, and that will lead to the Padres winning this game on the run line.
Play: Padres -1.5
Cleveland Indians -170 at Detroit Tigers +155 Total: 7
This low total is a bit shocking to me. Shane Bieber and Matthew Boyd haven’t been awful this season, but they also haven't been great.Over the last ten games the over has been the play in seven of them. Look for the Indians to get close to this number by themselves, and for the over to cash.
Colorado Rockies at New York Mets Game 2
After not a lot of scoring in the first game both teams are going to have no issues running up the score. Even though the Mets have struggled scoring this year, Antonio Senzatela hasn’t slowed down anyone, and the ball will be flying out of the ballpark. Back the over.
Toronto Blue Jays +127 at New York Yankees -138 Total:9.5
THe Yankees have been going in the right direction winning seven of their last ten games and they should have no issues getting the job done in this game. They have gotten a lot better pitching the last few weeks and that will be the x-factor again in this game. Look for the Yankees to win this game on the run line.
Play: Yankees -1.5
Kansas City Royals +144 at Tampa Bay Rays -173 Total. 7.5
There are plenty of better options across the board, but this is a good chance to take the value with the Royals. Shane McClanahan has been good for the Rays, but he hasn’t been great and he sits with an ERA of 4.00. The Royals will find offensive success to win at plus money.
Play: Royals ML +144
Cincinnati Reds at Washington Nationals
I don’t trust either of the starters in this game, and neither of the bullpens should probably be trusted either. Sonny Gray is winless right now, and Stephen Strasburg currently sits with an ERA of 4.11 and only hias second start back from being on the IL. Back the over to cash.
St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks
The Cardinals looked good on Wednesday against the White Sox and it was the pitching that was the difference. The bad news for the Cardinals in this game though is they send Carlos Martinez to hte mound who hasn’t been great as of late. The Diamondbacks have won only one of their last ten games, but this is a perfect chance to take a shot with them. Back the Diamondbacks
Play: Diamondbacks ML
Baltimore Orioles +175 at Chicago White Sox -210 Total: 9
All the White Sox need to get their season back on track is some games against the Baltimore Orioles. Bruce Zimmerman gets the start for the Orioles and coming into this game he sits with a 2-3 record and an ERA of 5.59. The lack of scoring by the Orioles in this game will be the difference. The Orioles only have one win in their last ten games. Back the White Sox on the run line.
Play: White Sox -1.5
Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners.
Koby Allard will be getting his first start of the season in this game, after finding success in the bullpen so far this year. The thing I am concerned about though is that he won’t be stretched long in this game, and that will mean a lot of a bad Rangers bullpen. The Mariners will take advantage and win another game because of their offense.
Play: Mariners ML
Los Angeles Angels +115 at Oakland Athletics -130 Total: 8
Shohei Ohtani’s fastball was slower in the last game, and that could be something the Angels are paying close attention too. The fastball being down is going to be something that the A’s are going to take advantage of. Back the A’s to get the job done on the money line.
Play: A’s ML
San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
These two teams faced off last weekend and it was the Dodgers that were able to win all three of the games. Neither starting pitcher has been announced, but it’s hard to bet against the Dodgers given what they just did against the Giants. Back the Dodgers ML
Play: Dodgers -1,5
