It’s a lighter slate of games across the MLB on Thursday with only 12 games taking place but there is still plenty of value across the board in terms of free picks. Let’s breakdown and give away a free pick on each the games.
Toronto Blue Jays +125 at Atlanta Braves -145 Total: 9
This is going to be a game where there is plenty of scoring by both teams. The Blue Jays have been ranked in the top 10 in terms of runs scored all season, and they have a juice matchup against Charlie Morton who isn’t the same pitcher that he once was. For Ross Stripling their is talks that he could be out of the rotation after this start if it doesn't go well. Ronald Acuna Jr has 11 home runs this season, and he should have at least 12 after this game. Back the over.
Philadelphia Phillies -115 at Washington Nationals -105 Total: 8.5
The Nationals have struggled this season and over their last ten games they have won only four of their games. The biggest issue for the Nationals so far this season has been with their offense scoring 111 runs total on the season. On the mound for the Nationals is Patrick Corbin who sits with an ERA over seven and he won’t get a whole lot of run support in this game. Back the Phillies on the money line.
Play: Phillies ML
Kansas City Royals -105 at Detroit Tigers -115 Total: 9
These are two teams who have really struggled as of late and there is plenty of better value on the board. The Royals have had some real issues with their starting pitchers and bullpen the last few few weeks. It isn’t going to get any easier in this game for the Royals as Daniel Lynch is on the mound. In his last start he went 2/3rd’s of an inning giving up seven hits and eight runs The bullpen won’t do them any favors when they enter the game either. Back the Tigers.
Play: Tigers ML
St. Louis Cardinals +110 at Milwaukee Brewers -130
The St. Louis Cardinals shouldn’t be the underdog in this game, it doesn’t really matter who is on the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals have hit their stride winning eight of their last ten games There is no doubt that Corbin Burnes has been good for the Brewers, but Jack Flaherty has the perfect 6-0 record. Back the Cardinals to win this game on the money line.
Play: Cardinals ML
Minnesota Twins +115 at Chicago White Sox -135 Total: 7.5
The Twins can’t score runs and now they face off with a pitcher who goes deep in games and doesn’t give up a whole lot of runs. Carlos Rodon on the season currently sits with a 6-0 record and an ERA of 0,58. The Twins offense is going to struggle again in this game, and the White Sox will win on the run line.
Play: White Sox -1.5
San Francisco Giants -161 at Pittsburgh Pirates +140 Total: 8
The Pirates offense issue all season has been scoring runs and in the last game against the Reds they only scored one run. The GIants rank in the top half of the league in terms of runs and they have a juicy matchup against Will Crowe who sits with an ERA over four. Back the Giants on the run line.
Play: Giants -1.5
Oakland Athletics -105 at Boston Red Sox -115 Total: 9
The Red Sox have the best offense in all of baseball and they send out Garrett Richards to the mound who has ben strong in each of his last three starts. In this game, the Red Sox offense will also be shut down by Sean Manea who went eight innings in his last start. This total should be sitting at 7.5 not nine. Back the under.
Play: Under 9
New York Yankees -141 at Tampa Bay Rays +120 Total: 8.5
Even though the Yankees got out to a slow start to the season, they have been playing a lot better winning eight of their last ten games. Even though they have been playing better it’s actually the pitching staff that has been the difference, not the offense which is still having some issues. I expect this is going to be a good old-fashioned pitcher's duel that leads to this game going under the total. Back the under.
Play: Under 7.5
Texas Rangers +175 at Houston Astros -200 Total: 9
The Texas Rangers this season have been super inconsistent with their offense and too often they haven’t given their pitching enough run support. Over the last two games they have given up only seven totals but they only scored three runs, and that led to the issues. In this game, the Rangers will fail to give any run support again and that will lead to the the Astros winning on the run line.
Play: Astros -1.5
Cincinnati Reds -135 at Colorado Rockies +115 Toal: 10
The ball is going to be flying out of Coors Field on Thursday. Chi Chi Gonzalez’s last start was bad against the Cardinals giving up eight hits and seven runs. Look for the Rockies to also score enough runs to push this game over the total. I wouldn’t be shocked if this number went higher the closer it got to first pitch.
Miami Marlins -115 at Arizona Diamondbacks -115 Total: 8
These are two teams who haven’t found a lot of success this season, but this is a game where the visiting team is going to find a lot of success. The Diamondbacks offense has also been strong this season sitting as the 4th best in terms of runs scored, but they are going to have issues against Trevor Rogers. On the season Rogers sits with an ERA less than two and he will be the difference in this game.
Play: Marlins ML
Cleveland Indians at Seattle Mariners
The Indians' offense has been an issue all season and in the last series against the Cubs they only scored five runs total. Even though they only scored five runs. They were able to win both of the games. In this game though, the lack of run support is going to catch up to them though, as the Mariners win this game on the money line.
Play: Mariners ML
