Milwaukee Brewers +101 Philadelphia Phillies -111 Total: 9
The Brewers Adrian Houser has been great on the road this season, going 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA in 2 starts. He has also limited this Phillies lineup to a .190 career batting average. Philadelphia’s starter Matt Moore has been inconsistent, with a 9.82 ERA and 2.36 WHIP through 3 starts, and the Phillies are averaging just 3 runs per game over the last 7 days. The Brewers will come into this game looking to bounce back after a blowout at home against the Dodgers. Milwaukee is 7-2 following a loss this season, and 9-3 on the road overall. Back the Brewers.
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers +101
Los Angeles Dodgers Chicago Cubs Total:
Chicago’s Kyle Hendricks has had a rough 2021, going 1-3 with a 7.54 ERA through 5 starts. He has also allowed a .300 batting average with 5 home runs in 31 at bats against this Dodgers lineup. Despite their struggles of late, Los Angeles still ranks third in the majors with 141 runs scored and first with a .343 OBP. Walker Buehler has been solid for the Dodgers this season with a 0.96 WHIP, and they are 2-0 in his road starts this season. Give me the Dodgers.
Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers
Texas Rangers +162 Minnesota Twins -177 Total: 8.5
The Twins have now won 3 of their last 4 after dropping 8 of 10 prior. Minnesota has opened the year 5-8 at home but have averaged over 6 runs a game at home over the last week. On the flip side, Texas starter Dane Dunning has allowed 9 runs in his last 7.2 innings, and their bullpen ranks near the bottom with a .253 batting average against and 17 home runs allowed this season. Minnesota ranks 8th in the majors with 35 home runs this season. Look for the Twins to keep it rolling here.
Pick: Minnesota Twins -177
New York Mets St. Louis Cardinals Total:
St. Louis’ Adam Wainwright has settled in, going 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his last two starts. Over the last 7 days, the Cardinals rank 3rd in the majors with 35 runs scored, and the Mets rank last with under 2 runs per game over that stretch. I will keep fading New York until Lindor and Co. wake up from the plate.
Pick: St. Louis Cardinals
Cleveland Indians -105 Kansas City Royals -105 Total: 8.5
Kansas City’s Jakob Junis did not allow a run in his first two starts, but over his last three he has allowed 9 runs in 16.1 innings. The Indians Aaron Civale is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA on the road this season. Cleveland’s bullpen has also been much better, ranking 3rd in the majors with a 2.64 ERA, and 4th with a .198 average against. Give me Cleveland.
Pick: Cleveland Indians -105
San Francisco Giants -105 Colorado Rockies -105 Total: 7.5
The Giants Aaron Sanchez has not allowed more than 2 runs in 5 starts this season, whereas Colorado’s German Marquez has not allowed less than 2 in his first 5. Sanchez has limited this Rockies lineup to a combined 4-30 from the plate in his career. The Rockies bullpen has also allowed a league worst .286 batting average to start the year. San Francisco has a 5-1 lead on the season series and will extend that advantage here.
Pick: San Francisco Giants -105
Tampa Bay Rays -105 Los Angeles Angels -105 Total:7.5
Tampa Bay’s Tyler Glasnow has been elite to start the season ranking in the top ten in ERA, WHIP and Strikeouts. He has been even better on the road, with a 1.06 ERA in 2 starts with 22 strikeouts. The Angels are 3-0 in Shohei Ohtani’s starts, but he has yet to make it past the 5th inning and gave up 4 runs last time out. Backing him up will be an Angels bullpen that ranks in the bottom third of the league with a 4.36 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and .252 average against. Take the Rays, who are 5-1 in their last 6 road games.
Pick: Tampa Bay Rays-105
Toronto Blue Jays -105 Oakland Athletics -105 Total: 8.5
The Athletics’ Frankie Montas has allowed over a hit per inning and 6 home runs through his first 5 starts. Oakland has also scored just 2 runs per game over the last 7 days. Toronto has scored 7 per game overt that same timeframe. The Blue Jays are 4-1 in Steven Matz’ starts and their bullpen ranks 4th in the majors with a 2.72 ERA this season. Back the road team here.
Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -105
Baltimore Orioles Seattle Mariners Total:
The Orioles have been much better on the road this season, opening the year with a 9-5 record. However, they will start Dean Kremer here, who is 0-2 with a 2.00 WHIP through 3 starts. The Mariners have yet to name a starter as of Monday morning, but their bullpen leads the majors with a 2.30 ERA. The Orioles offense ranks near the bottom of the league with 3.8 runs per game. Fade Baltimore.
Pick: Seattle Mariners
Pittsburgh Pirates +165 San Diego Padres -180 Total: 9
The Pirates have a chance with a solid edge on the mound on Monday. Tyler Anderson will start for Pittsburgh, and he has given up just 4 runs over his last 16.1 innings with 14 strikeouts. The Padres will start Miguel Diaz, who has not pitched since 2019. He will most likely be on a short leash, and will be backed by the 5th best bullpen in the majors with a 2.95 ERA. The Pirates has also been effective however, ranking 10th with a 3.65 ERA. San Diego has the much better lineup, averaging 4.6 runs over the last 7 days compared to Pittsburgh's 3.2, but I like the Pirates to steal one here.
Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +165
