The Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics face off on Tuesday in an American League MLB showdown at RingCentral Coliseum. These two teams will be playing a doubleheader and this a preview for Game 1. Since this is a doubleheader this game will only be seven longs.
The Minnesota Twins are dealing with COVID issues and they are shorthanded coming into this game as they have dealt with the issues. Shortstop Andrelton Simmons is out for this game along with Kyle Garlick. The Twins have really struggled so far this season and this is a series they need to find success in/ Nelson Cruz has been the best player so far thi season for the Twins hitting four home runs and driving in ten RBI’s. Byron Buxton has also found a whole lot of success hitting five home runs and driving in nine RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Oakland Athletics who struggled to start the season but they are playing a lot better as of late winning eight games in a row. On Sunday against the TIgers it was the pitching staff that was strong again giving up only two runs and that led to the victory. Matt Chapman has been the best player so far this season for the A’s hitting three home runs and driving in ten RBI’s.
Matt Shoemaker will get the start for the A’s and on the season he has gone 11 innings giving up ten hits and five runs. In his last start against the Mariners, he went five innings giving up seven hits and four earned runs.
The Twins have all kinds of issues heading into this game and I am not trusting Shoemaker to be the player to get them out of it. Look for the A’s to find offensive success and that will be the difference as the A’s come away with the victory. Back the A’s -1.5.
