The Chicago White Sox face the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, April 18th at Fenway Park for game one of a doubleheader.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago White Sox in game one of this series by the final score of 7-4. Saturday's game was the first of a four-game set between two of the top offenses in the MLB. The White Sox started the scoring with two runs in the first inning, but the Red Sox were able to tie the game in the third inning at 2-2. A four-run eighth inning that included a Marwin Gonzalez solo home run was what gave the Red Sox the lead and plenty of insurance late in the ballgame. The Red Sox are now 10-4 on the year and have a 3.5-game lead in the AL East. The White Sox are now 6-8 on the year, as they are currently in third place in the AL Central.
The Chicago White Sox are projected to bring left-hander Dallas Keuchel to the mound to face the Red Sox in game one. Keuchel is 0-0 with a 6.43 ERA through his first 14.0 innings of the season. The former AL Cy Young Award winner has struggled so far this season, allowing a walk about every other inning and a total of 13 hits in 14.0 innings as well.
The Boston Red Sox are projected to send right-hander Tanner Houck to the bump to take on the White Sox in game one. Houck is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA through his first 6.0 innings of the season. Houck has racked up the strikeouts this season, already earning 10 Ks through only six innings of work. Houck has only allowed one walk and has not given up a home run.
I am going to take the Red Sox in game one, as Keuchel has not looked sharp at all this season and Houck has looked a lot better than his 3.00 ERA suggests (which is impressive already). I will take Red Sox money line.
