The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies face off on Saturday in a National League MLB showdown at Citizens Bank Ballpark.
These two teams faced off on Friday and it was the Philles that were able to win 9-2. The Phillies scored six runs in the second inning and they never looked back as they cruised to the easy victory.
The PHillies have really struggled to start the season but maybe this is the series they can finally turn their season around. The offense finally broke out of it’s shell on Friday and in this game it’s going to be important the offense is strong again.Andrew McCutchen was the best player on Friday driving in three RBI’s. Didi Gregorious has been the best player so far this season and coming into this game he has hit two home runs and driven in nine RBI”s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Cardinals who have lost two games in a row Over the last two games the Cardinals have only scored two runs total and that type of offensive production isn’t going to be enough to get hte job done. Nolan Arenado has been the best player for the Cardinals hitting three home runs and driving in eight RBI’s.
Kwayng-Hyun Kim will get the start for the Cardinals and he will making his first appearance of the season. Last year he had a 3-0 record and an ERA of 1..62,
On the mound for the Phillies will be Matt Moore and on the season he has pitched 8.1 innings giving up 13 hits and seven runs.
Cardinals are 2-6 in their last 8 games vs. a left-handed starter. Cardinals are 1-4 in their last 5 overall. Cardinals are 1-4 in their last 5 games on grass. Phillies are 8-3 in their last 11 home games with the total set at 9.0-10.5. Phillies are 5-2 in their last 7 games vs. a left-handed starter. Phillies are 9-4 in their last 13 Saturday games.
Moore has struggled this year and I expect he is going to lit up in this game. Look for the Cardinals to get the job done and win this game.
