The Philadelphia Phillies face the New York Mets on Tuesday, April 13th at Citi Field for game one of a doubleheader.
The Phillies and Mets' game that was scheduled for April 12th was rained out, therefore these two teams will meet in a doubleheader on Tuesday for the first two games of this series. The Phillies just wrapped up their three-game series with the Braves on Sunday, a series in which Atlanta took two of three games. The Mets have now been off for two days as their game against the Marlins at home was only postponed on Sunday, so the Mets will have plenty of rest heading into this doubleheader and should have every pitcher available out of the bullpen. The Phillies are 6-3 to start the season and are in first place in the NL East standings. The Mets are 2-3 and are in third place in the NL East standings behind the Braves and Phillies.
The Philadelphia Phillies are projected to bring either Chase Anderson or Aaron Nola to the mound to face the Mets in game one. I would imagine that both of these starters will be the two guys that start for the Phillies in the doubleheader. Nola is of course the ace of the Phillies rotation, while Anderson is at the back-end of the rotation.
The New York Mets are projected to send right-hander Taijuan Walker to the bump to take on the Phillies in game one. Walker threw 6.0 innings of two-run ball against the Marlins in his season and Mets debut. Walker only had four strikeouts in the start and the Mets won the game, 3-2.
UPDATE: With Anderson as the official starter for game one for the Phillies, I will take the Mets here. Anderson does not impress me and I think a struggling Mets lineup can get to him here.
