The Los Angeles Dodgers face the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, April 7th at Oakland Coliseum for game three of a three-game series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Oakland Athletics by the final score of 5-1 on Tuesday night to take a 2-0 series lead in this interleague season series. The Dodgers are now 5-1 on the year, while the Athletics have fallen to an MLB-worst 0-6 overall. The A's have lost four games to the Astros and two games to the Dodgers, all of which at home. The A's are struggling on both sides of the ball and have lost each game by an average of 6.16 runs per game. The A's have certainly seen fierce completion in the Astros and Dodgers, but there are still no excuses.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are projected to bring right-hander Trevor Bauer to the mound to face the Athletics on Wednesday. Bauer was untouchable in the first six innings of his Dodgers debut against the Rockies, but things got dicey in the seventh inning where he was charged with four earned runs. Bauer's final line was 6.1 IP, 4 ER, 10 K, 2 BB, 3 H. Bauer will look for his second win in a Dodger uniform against a desperate Oakland team.
The Oakland Athletics are projected to send left-hander Jesus Luzardo to the bump to close out this three-game series. Luzardo did not have a strong performance in his season debut. Luzardo allowed eight hits, a walk, two home runs and five earned runs overall in 5.0 innings of work against the Astros. Luzardo struck out eight batters, which is a promising sign for the young southpaw, but his stuff was not as sharp as we have seen before. Luzardo will look to even out his record and get his team its first win of the season.
The Dodgers keep rolling and the A's keep struggling, and with this pitching matchup there is no reason for me to jump off the Dodger train here. I would lay the run line if I had to play this game, but overall there is not a ton of meat on the bone here.
