The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds face off on Monday in an MLB showdown at the Great American Ballpark.
The Reds opened up their season against the St. Louis Cardinals and the Reds were able to win the last two games. On Sunday it was the Reds offense that was the difference putting up 12 runs on the way to an easy victory. Nick Castellanos has been the best player this season hitting two home runs and driving in five RBI’s. Tyler Naquin has also had a big season finishing the game with one home run and five runs batted in.
On the other side of this matchup is the Pittsburgh Pirates who started off the season against the Cubs and they were only able to win one of the three games. The Pirates were able to win the first game, but the last two games they were defeated. Over the last two games the Pirates have scored only four runs total. The Pirates don’t have any players who have driven more than two runs and in this game, the offense is going to need to be better.
JT Brubaker will get the start for the Pirates and last season he finished with a 1-3 record overall and an ERA of 4.94.
Jose De Leon will get the start for the Reds and he struggled in limited action last season. De Leon made five appearances and he had an ERA of 18.00.
The Pirates are 24-54 in their last 78 games overall. The Reds are 9-2 in their last 11 games against the National League Central. The under is 8-2-1 in the Pirates last 11 games overall. The over is 5-2-1 in the Reds last eight games overall. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings played between the two teams. The Pirates are 0-4 in their last four meetings.
The Reds had no issue on Sunday getting the job done and runs aren’t going to be any issue in this game. Look for runs to be hard to come by in this game and for the under to cash.
