New York Yankees 2020 Season Preview
A Look at the New York Yankees for the 2020 MLB Season
Win Total 101.5 - World Series Odds 7/2
The New York Yankees could be the team that benefits the most from the delay of the start of the MLB season. The Yanks are banged up once again heading into the 2020 season, as some big names are looking forward to some extra time to heal (Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, James Paxton, etc). Get MLB Predictions and MLB Picks for every Yankees game at Pick Dawgz.
The Yankees went 103-59 last season and they lost in the ALCS to the Astros, 4 games to 2. They look prime to earn back-to-back-to-back 100+ win seasons.
Offense: The Yankees offense looks dangerous once again, as the Bronx Bombers are deep and look talented from 1-9. If their power hitters (Stanton, Judge, Sanchez) can stay healthy, they are bound to be among the league leaders in home runs.
There were not too many major acquisitions for the Yanks on offense, but it really was not necessary for a team this deep to add more pieces. Brett Gardner, 4.1 WAR, 28 Home Runs, .325 On-Base Percentage, will return to the Yankees for a one-year contract.
Pitching: The Yankees needed to address their rotation in the offseason, and in Yankee style, they signed the biggest fish on the market in Gerrit Cole. Cole went 20-5 with a 2.50 ERA. He also threw 326 strikeouts.
The Yankees rotation took a hit with the loss of Luis Severino for the majority of the season, if not the entire season. James Paxton will be out for a little while, as he looks to return by the end of May.
Overall, this Yankees rotation has a ton of potential. We already know that the Yankees bullpen is great, even though the loss of Dellin Betances will hurt a bit.
The key factor for the Yankees pitching-wise will be youngster and prospect, Jordan Montgomery, who will look to return to MLB play this season.
Overview and Projection/Prediction: The Yankees should make the playoffs and have a great shot at winning the AL East once again. This team will reap the benefits of adding one of the best pitchers in the game in Gerrit Cole.
The offense; with Torres, Andujar, Voit, Stanton, Sanchez, Judge, Lemahieu, and others; will be among the best in the American League.
This team can play, and as we have seen from a season ago, they can fill the voids of injured stars because of their depth. Their win total projection currently stands at 101.5 with the over at -132 and the under at +105. I will take the over here, as I think the Yankees can get to 105 wins in 2020. Of course, there is not too much room for error, nor is there a ton of value.
