The New York Yankees face the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, October 6th at Petco Park for game two of the ALDS.
The New York Yankees took down the Tampa Bay Rays by the final score of 9-3 in game one of the American League Divisional Series. The Yankees' offense showed up in a big way in the Wild Card Series against the Cleveland Indians, and that continued in game one of this ALDS. The Yankees scored five of their nine runs in the ninth inning and four of those runs on one swing. Giancarlo Stanton hit a 411-foot grand slam for the Yankees, breaking the game wide open for the Bronx Bombers. Gerrit Cole earned the win for the Yankees, as he tossed 6.0 innings while allowing three earned runs with eight strikeouts. Blake Snell earned the loss for the Rays, as he conceded four earned runs. The Yankees now lead the series 1-0 and will look to take a stranglehold on the series with a win on Tuesday.
The New York Yankees are set to bring right-hander Deivi Garcia to the mound to face the Rays in game two. Garcia went 3-2 with a 4.98 ERA in his first 34.1 innings of his major league career. Garcia will be facing the Rays for the first time in his career, and he will also be making his MLB postseason debut in this game.
The Tampa Bay Rays will send right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the bump for game two of this series. Glasnow pitched in game two of the American League Wild Card Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. In that outing, Glasnow struck out eight batters while allowing two earned runs through 6.0 innings in an 8-2 Rays win. Glasnow was 5-1 with a 4.08 ERA during the regular season.
This is virtually a must-win for the Rays, and I do not see them going down 0-2. Glasnow is the much better starter in this matchup, especially with Garcia making his playoff debut. I like Glasnow and the Rays to win and even up this series on Tuesday.
