The Miami Marlins and New York Yankees face off on Sunday in an interleague showdown at Yankee Stadium. After the Marlins were able to get the win on Friday, the Yankees rebounded winning 11-4 on Saturday.
The Miami Marlins have their playoff spot locked up and getting some playing time for some of the bench players might be the goal in this game. This is a Marlins offense that has been impressive this year but on Saturday it was the pitching staff that got lit up early and the offense couldn’t make up for it. The Marlins offense doesn’t really have a star but they have plenty of players who have played a key role this season. The best offensive player has been Brian Anderson who has hit 10 home runs and driven in 37 RBI’s.
Much like the Marlins the Yankees have their spot locked up for the playoffs and a skeleton crew could be in store for this game. The win on Saturday was big for the Yankees because they had lost three games in a row before that and the offense was really struggling during that stretch. DJ LeMahieu and Luke Voit were the stars of the show on Saturday both driving in three runs. In this game the Yankees need some offensive production in the first few innings.
Jose Urena will get the start for the Marlins and coming into this game he sits with an 0-3 record and an ERA of 6.00.
Clarke Schmidt will get the start for the Yankees and in 2.1 innings he has given up three hits and two runs.
The over is 12-5-1 in the Marlins last 18 road games. The over is 8-3-2 in Urena’s last 13 road starts. The over is 9-3 in the Yankees last 12 games as a favorite. The over is 9-3 in the Yankees last 12 games overall.
Urena hasn’t been great but I also don’t trust Schmidt which means we will go with value here. Look for the Marlins to run up the score in this game and they will have no issue coming away with a victory at a great price.
