The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals face off in an American League Central showdown at Kauffman Stadium. Both of these teams won’t be in the playoffs but on Friday it was the Royals who came away with a 3-2 victory.
The Tigers have struggled all season and coming into this game they have lost four of the last five games. On Friday against the Royals the TIgers had a good pitching performance, something that hasn’t always been the case this year. The TIgers are using a lot of young guys now and on Friday tiw as Christian Stewart and Eric Haase who drove in runs. In this game the Tigers are going to need to give their pitching staff some run support.
On the other side of this matchup is the Royals who are hoping to finish the season strong and they look like they might be doing that winning three games in a row. In two of the games the pitching staff was elite and on Friday it was the pitching staff that was the difference. Salvador Perez has been the best offensive player for the Royals who hitting 11 home runs and driving in 32 RBI”s.
Matthew Boyd will get the start for the Tigers and coming into this game he sits with a 2-7 record and an ERA of 6.96.
Carlos Hernandez will get the start for the Royals and he currently sits with a 0-0 record and an ERA of 3.46. Hernandez has pitched 13 innings this year.
The TIgers are 20-53 in their last 73 road games. The Tigers are 50-125 in their last 175 games played on grass. The Tigers are 51-127 in their last 178 games overall. The over is 7-2-1 in Boyd’s last 10 starts against Kansas City.
Boyd has struggled this season and the Royals are going to do it again in this game. Look for the Royals to run up the score and they will have no issue coming away with a victory in this game. In terms of the total the over is the play.
