The Colorado Rockies face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, September 26th at Chase Field for game three of a four-game series in MLB action.
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies by the final score of 11-5 on Friday night in game two of this series. After shutting out the Rockies in the first game of the series, the DBacks added insult to injury with their six-run win on Friday. A six-run first inning aided the Diamondbacks efforts in that one, as a major rally in the bottom half of the inning gave Arizona a major lead early on. The Rockies would not be able to mount a serious comeback, as the closest Colorado got would be 6-4 in the top of the second. The Diamondbacks are now 24-34 on the year, as they remain in last place in the NL West. The Rockies are currently 25-33 on the year, which is good for fourth place in the NL West standings.
The Colorado Rockies are projected to bring right-hander German Marquez to the mound to face the Diamondbacks. Marquez is 3-6 with a 4.10 ERA through 74.2 innings this season with the Rockies. Marquez allowed only one earned run through 6.0 innings in his last start against the San Francisco Giants on September 21st. Marquez has been a workhorse for the Rockies this season, racking up 74.2 innings already in this shortened season.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are projected to bring right-hander Luke Weaver to the bump for Saturday's contest. Weaver is 1-8 with a 6.51 ERA through his first 47.0 innings of the season with the Diamondbacks. Weaver conceded three earned runs through 5.1 innings against the Houston Astros in his most recent outing on September 19th. Weaver has obviously had a rough go at things this season, but he will look for a sharp start to end his 2020 campaign.
I am going to take the Rockies to take game three of this series after losing the first two games. Marquez has had his moments in 2020, and I think he will toss a quality start on the road. I will take the Rockies on the money line.
