The Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics face off on Thursday in an interleague showdown at Dodger Stadium. These two squads both have the division locked up so players resting always has to be a concern for these two teams.
The Athletics have found success this season but they have struggled a bit as of late. Heading into Wednesday’s game, the A’s had played into straight games where they only scored two runs and against the Dodgers that usually isn’t enough to get the job done. Matt Olson has been the star of the show for the A’s and coming into this game he has driven in 42 RBI’s. Outside of Olson it’s mostly been a balanced attack.
On the other side of this matchup is the Dodgers who had won six of their seven games heading into the game on Wednesday. This is an offense that has been strong and just a few games ago they put up 15 runs against the Rockies. That game was inside Coors Field, but scoring that many runs is still impressive. Mookie Betts has been an elite signing for the Dodgers and coming into this game he has hit 16 home runs and drove in 39 RBI’s.
Mike Fiers is going to get the start for the A’s and coming into this game he sits with a 6-2 record and an ERA of 4.67. Fiers has gotten plenty of run support this year which has helped his record.
The A’s are 23-6 in Fier’s last 29 starts on grass. The under is 11-4 in Fiers last 15 road starts. The Dodgers are 38-14 in their last 52 games played on Thursday. The Dodgers are 19-7 in their last 26 interleague games. The Dodgers are 48-18 in their last 66 games played as a favorite.
Fiers has gotten plenty of run support and the A’s are going to do it again. It might not be enough to come away with the victory, but it’s going to be plenty for this game go well over the posted total. If you can buy up another run to get more value, that also makes sense in this game spot.
