The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays meet Thursday in MLB action at Sahlen Field.
The New York Yankees look for a win after losing three of their last four games. The Yankees have scored 18 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Yankees have won nine of their last 10 games when scoring four or more runs. DJ LeMahieu leads the Yankees with 64 hits and 24 RBI while Luke Voit and Gio Urshela have combined for 96 hits and 78 RBI. Jordan Montgomery gets the ball, and he is 2-2 with a 5.12 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. Montgomery is 2-0 with a 2.78 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his career against the Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays look for a win after splitting their last six games. The Blue Jays have scored 26 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in four of their last five games. The Blue Jays have split their last six games when scoring four or more runs. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. leads the Blue Jays with 59 hits and 31 RBI while Teoscar Hernandez and Randal Grichuk have combined for 107 hits and 63 RBI. Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the ball, and he is 4-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 68 strikeouts this season. Ryu is 0-2 with a 8.80 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his career against the Yankees.
Will update with trends once they're released.
Jordan Montgomery has allowed 10 earned runs and 19 hits in his last 14.1 innings while Hyun-Jin Ryu has allowed nine runs and 25 hits in his last 23 innings. Ryu has been much better than Montgomery this season, who has an ERA over six through four starts this month and is allowing a .264 batting average and .312 on base percentage on the season. The New York Yankees will break out of this slump they've walked into this week, but I have to give the Blue Jays the edge because of the starting pitching matchup.
Give me the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon.
