The Oakland Athletics face the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, September 23rd at Dodger Stadium for game two of a two-game series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Oakland Athletics by the final score of 7-2 on Tuesday night in game one of this series. The Dodgers hit four home runs in that game, all by different players. The Dodgers scored their seven runs on 11 hits, while the Athletics scored two runs on only five hits. Dustin May earned his second win of the season on Tuesday, as he is now 2-1. Frankie Montas received the loss, as he is now 3-5. The Dodgers are 39-16 on the season, as they remain in first place in the NL West. The Athletics are now 33-21 on the year, and they have already clinched the AL West title. The Athletics and Dodgers will finish up their season series on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Oakland Athletics are set to bring left-hander Sean Manaea to the mound to face the Dodgers. Manaea is 4-3 with a 4.50 ERA through his first 48.0 innings of the season with the Athletics. Manaea allowed three earned runs on seven hits through 5.2 innings against the Colorado Rockies in his last start on September 15th.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will send left-hander Julio Urias to the bump for Wednesday's contest. Urias is 3-0 with a 3.49 ERA through 49.0 innings this season with the Dodgers. Urias allowed two earned runs on only three hits through 5.2 innings in his most recent outing against the Colorado Rockies on September 15th. Urias has pitched very well this season for the Dodgers, and he will be very useful in the postseason for Los Angeles.
Game two of this series should be a bit closer than game one was, but I still like the Dodgers to take this game on Wednesday. Urias has been consistent this season, while Manaea has been shaky in spots. I will take the Dodgers to win this game at home and earn their 40th win of the season, making them the only team to win 40 thus far.
