The Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves meet Wednesday in MLB action at Truist Park.
The Miami Marlins need a win after losing five of their last eight games. The Marlins have scored five runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last eight games. The Marlins have lost six of their last eight games when scoring three or less runs. Jesus Aguilar leads the Marlins with 49 hits and 31 RBI while Brian Anderson and Corey Dickerson have combined for 95 hits and 52 RBI. Sixto Sanchez gets the ball, and he is 3-2 with a 2.75 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. This will be Sanchez’s second career game against the Braves.
The Atlanta Braves look to stay hot after winning seven of their last 10 games. The Braves have scored 23 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last nine games. The Braves have won six straight games when scoring four or more runs. Freddie Freeman leads the Braves with 69 hits and 50 RBI while Marcell Ozuna and Dansby Swanson have combined for 128 hits and 81 RBI. Max Fried gets the ball, and he is 7-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 50 strikeouts this season. Fried is 0-1 with a 4.62 ERA and 31 strikeouts in his career against the Marlins.
Will update with trends once they're released.
Sixto Sanchez has allowed eight runs and 20 hits in his last 24 innings while Max Fried has allowed four runs and eight hits in his last 10 innings. Max Fried is tough to bet against given that he's possibly been the best pitcher in the NL this season and should be a strong contender for the CY Young. However, I'm going to assume the Marlins will be underdogs in this spot, and Sanchez, one of the best young pitchers in the game, at plus money is intriguing. I love getting ace quality pitchers at plus money and it's a spot I don't turn down often.
If the Marlins are underdogs in this spot, I want the road team.
