The Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins face off on Sunday in a National League East showdown. This is a doubleheader and this preview is for Game 2. Since it is a doubleheader this game will only go seven innings. On Saturday it was the Marlins who found a way to come away with a 7-3 victory.
The Nationals have had all kinds of struggles this season and coming into this game they have lost two games in a row. This is an offense that still has a lot left to prove and over the last two games they have scored only six runs total. The pitching staff has also been terrible this season and twp games ago they gave up 14 runs. In this game the Nationals need to have a good outing from their starter, especially with the way their bullpen has worked the last couple of games.
On the other side of this matchup is the MIami Marlins who have been one of the surprising teams so far this year but their biggest issue has been their inconsistency. This is a team that can scored 14 games one game and the next game their offense will disappear and leave you scratching your head. Brian ANderson has been the best offensive player for the Marlins hitting nine home runs and driving 35 RBI’s. This is a big game for the Marlins and they need to be the team that gets a couple runs in the first couple of innings.
The Nationals are 2-7 in their last nine games played on Sunday. The over is 22-8-1 in the Nationals last 31 road games. The Nationals are 4-10 in their last 14 road games. The over is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings in Miami between the Nationals and Marlins. The Nationals are 39-14 in their last 53 meetings against the Marlins.
The Nationals have had success historically against the Marlins, but this is a different Marlins team and this game is going to be an easy game for them. Look for the Marlins to run up the score and they will have no issue winning this game on the run line.
