The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies meet Saturday in MLB action from Coors Field.
This will be the third game in the weekend series between these teams. The Dodgers managed a 9-3 victory to open it up on Thursday. In the Friday game, Los Angeles kept it going with an offensive onslaught in a 15-6 win to go up 2-0 in the set. Check back all season long for free MLB picks and MLB predictions at Pick Dawgz.
The Dodgers put up 17 hits in the Friday game to Colorado’s 11 hits and two errors. Los Angeles’ Cody Bellinger had a great night offensively with a 3-for-5 line, a two-run homer, three RBI and two runs. Starting pitcher Alex Wood went 2.0 innings with five hits, three earned and two strikeouts.
For the Saturday starting pitcher role, the Dodgers will be sending out ace Clayton Kershaw. This season in eight starts, Kershaw is 5-2 with a 2.28 ERA and 53 Ks in 47.1 innings. Over the course of his MLB career, Kershaw is 174-76 with a 2.44 ERA and 2517 Ks in 2332.0 innings.
Over on the Rockies’ side, Friday starting pitcher Ryan Castellani went 4.1 innings with four hits, eight runs (seven earned), three walks and two homers allowed in a rough evening. Josh Fuentes led the offense there on a three-run homer, three RBI, three hits and two runs.
For the starting pitcher role on Saturday, Colorado will go with Chi Chi Gonzalez. In four games (two starts) this year, Gonzalez is 0-1 with an 8.68 ERA and 10 Ks in 9.1 innings. In his MLB career, Gonzalez is 6-15 with a 5.11 ERA and 93 Ks in 149.2 innings.
The Dodgers are 38-14 in their last 52 games as a road favorite and 45-18 in their last 63 overall. Los Angeles is 71-28 in their last 99 during game three of a series and the over is 6-2-2 in their last eight games overall.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 8-3 in their last 11 Saturday games and 12-5 in their last 17 games versus a left-handed starter. Colorado is 1-5 in their last six games as an underdog and the under is 4-0-2 in their last six home games.
Pick: I’m going to go ahead and stick with the Dodgers. Kershaw had a great run in his last outing until a handful of mistakes, which torpedoed his nine strikeouts and zero walks. Kershaw is great (relatively speaking) at hitter-friendly Coors Field, with a 10-5 record. As for Gonzalez, he looked good in relief but is coming off a bad start. Los Angeles should be in control here with Kershaw on the mound. It's obviously a thick line, granted, but unless you're staying away or value picking it's probably the way to go.
