The Minnesota Twins face the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, September 17th at Guaranteed Rate Field for game four of a four-game series.
The Minnesota Twins took down the Chicago White Sox by the final score of 5-1 on Wednesday night in game three of this series. The Twins had dropped the first two games of this series on the road, so it was very important for Minnesota to come out Wednesday and grab the win in Chicago. The Twins were led by the long ball (of course): as Eddie Rosario, Byron Buxton, and Miguel Sano all hit home runs for the Twins. Jose Abreu's solo shot in the bottom of the fourth turned out to be the only run in the game for the White Sox and only one of two hits that Chicago had all night. The Twins are now 31-20 on the year, which puts them 2.0 games behind the White Sox in the AL Central. The White Sox are 15 games above .500 at 32-17.
The Minnesota Twins are set to bring right-hander Kenta Maeda to the mound to face the White Sox. Maeda is 5-1 with a 2.43 ERA through his first 55.2 innings of the season with the Twins. Maeda is coming off one of his strongest performances of the season, as he tossed 7.0 innings of shutout ball while striking out seven batters against the Indians. That start was a real bounce back for the veteran right-hander, as Maeda had struggled in his two previous outings.
The Chicago White Sox have not announced a starting pitcher for this game as of now. It will be interesting to see who the White Sox decide to go with, as originally, Dallas Keuchel was in line to start on Thursday. If the White Sox decide to use an opener/bullpen game, it would not really surprise too many people.
Without a starter announced for the White Sox, the line has not yet been released. Check back soon for updates regarding the matchup and odds.
UPDATE: Reynaldo Lopez will start for the Chicago White Sox in this game. Lopez is 1-2 with a 5.52 ERA this season. I will take the Twins on the money line in this game, as I think Maeda will produce another strong outing.
