The Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers face off at Globe Life Field in an American League West showdown on Sunday. The A’s have won two of the last three games between these two teams this season.
The Athletics are one of the best teams in baseball and coming into this game they have won four of the last five games. In the A’s last game their offense was elite putting up ten runs in only seven innings and that led to the easy victory. Marcus Semien was the best player for the A’s driving in four runs. Matt Chapman is lost for the season with injury, but the team has continued to score runs, but as the season goes on he might be missed.
On the other side of this matchup is the Rangers who have really struggled this season and a big issue for this team all season has been with the offense. Even in the game they were able to win, the Rangers only scored five runs. Joey Gallo has been the best offensive player for the Rangers hitting nine home runs and driving in 22 RBI’s
Frankie Montas will get the start A’s and coming int othsi game he sits with a 3-3 record and an ERA of 5.73.
Lance Lynn will get the start for the Rangers and coming into this game he sits with a 5-2 record and an ERA of 2.52. As of late Lynn hasn’t been as strong.
The A’s are 7-2 in Montas last nine road starts. The Rangers are 19-39 in their last 58 games overall. The A’s are 7-1 in their last eight meetings in Texas against the Rangers. The A’s are 40-15 in their last 55 meetings against the Rangers.
The Rangers struggle to score runs and Lynn has been strong this season and those two things will result in a low scoring game. In terms of the side it’s a lean to the Rangers, but that isn’t a bet that is strong because the Rangers can’t be trusted.
Shane’s Pick Under 8.5 Runs
