The Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers face off on Saturday in an American League West showdown at Globe Life Field. On Friday it was the A’s who got the best of the Rangers, but the Rangers were able to score six runs.Since this is a doubleheader there will only be seven innings played.
The A’s have had all kinds of success in this season and if they weren’t to win the division at this point it would be shocking. Coming into this game the A’s have won three games in a row and in two of the games they only scored three runs. On Friday, the star of the show was Matt Olson who had two hits and drove in 5 RBI’s. In this game the A’s need to get the offense to get out to a fast start and try to run up the score again.
On the other side of this matchup is the Rangers who had won two games in a row before losing their last two games. The Rangers have struggled this season because of their offense, but as of late, the offense has been better. Even in the first game of this series although they lost they still put up six runs. Rougned Odor was the best player in the last game having one hit, one walk and driving in two RBI’s. If the offense doesn’t find success they will have issues.
Kolby Allard will get the start for the Rangers and coming into this game he sits with an 0-5 record and an ERA of 7.22. At home this season Allard has been a lot better sitting with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 1.74.
THe Rangers are 7-19 in their last 26 games overall. The over is 7-3-1 in the Rangers last 11 games played on Saturday. The Athletics are 39-15 in the last 54 meetings against the Rangers.
Allard has been better at home, but in this game I think the Rangers will struggle to score again. Look for the A’s to find enough offensive success to win a low scoring game on the run line. The under is also a strong play.
Shane’s Pick A's -1.5
