The Los Angeles Angels face the Texas Rangers on Thursday, September 10th at Globe Life Field for game three of a three-game series.
The Texas Rangers defeated the Los Angeles Angels by the final score of 7-3 on Wednesday night in game two of this series. The Rangers were down 2-0 in this game, but a five-run fifth inning propelled the team to victory on Wednesday. The Rangers played small ball in their win over the Angels, as they scored runs in many different ways other than a long ball. Sacrifice flies, bases-loaded walks and hit-by-pitches, and my personal favorite; the stealing of home plate. The Rangers are now a perfect 5-0 over the Angels this season, as they have taken the first two games of this series at home. The Rangers will look for the three-game sweep on Thursday, which would also clinch a season series win over the Halos. The Rangers are now 14-27 on the year, while the Angels are 17-26.
The Los Angeles Angels are set to bring right-hander Dylan Bundy to the mound to face the Rangers. Bundy is 4-2 with a 2.49 ERA through his first 50.2 innings of the season with the Angels. Bundy tossed 7.0 strong innings in his last start, as he struck out eight batters and allowed only two earned innings against the Astros.
The Texas Rangers will send right-hander Kyle Gibson to the bump for Thursday's game. Gibson is 1-4 with a 5.91 ERA through his first 42.2 innings of the season with the Rangers. Gibson allowed two earned runs through 4.2 innings in his most recent outing against the Mariners.
The Angels are the big favorites on the road with Bundy on the mound, and I like their chances to finally earn their first win against the Rangers this season. Bundy has been the strongest starter for the Angels this season, and I think he will give the Angels yet another solid start on Thursday. I expect the Angels to score enough against Gibson for Bundy and the back end of the pen to take the team the rest of the way. I will take the Angels on the money line.
