The Tampa Bay Rays face the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, September 8th at Nationals Park for game two of a two-game series.
The Washington Nationals defeated the Tampa Bay Rays by the final score of 6-1 on Monday in game one of this series. The Nationals were able to get to Charlie Morton in that game, scoring three runs against him throughout his outing. Max Scherzer was excellent on Monday, as he had his best start of the season. Scherzer tossed 7.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts to earn his fourth win of the season with Washington. The Rays are now 14 games above .500 at 28-14, while the Nationals improved to 15-25 on the year. The Rays will look to take the second game of this series and avoid the two-game sweep. The Nationals will look to play the role of spoiler yet again on Tuesday.
The Tampa Bay Rays will bring left-hander Ryan Yarbrough to the mound to face the Nationals. Yarbrough is 0-2 with a 3.65 ERA through his first 37.0 innings of the season with the Rays. Yarbrough tossed 6.2 shutout innings in his last start against the Miami Marlins on August 28th.
The Washington Nationals are set to send right-hander Anibal Sanchez to the bump for Tuesday night's game. Sanchez is 1-4 with a 6.48 ERA through his first 33.1 innings of the season with the Nationals. Sanchez has had a rough go at things in 2020, and his last start was no exception. Although Sanchez only allowed one earned run, he did concede eight base hits and one walk through 3.1 innings to the Phillies.
I will take the Tampa Bay Rays on the run line in this game, as I think Yarbrough is going to set his club up well. Anibal Sanchez just does not have it this season, and I think the Rays will make him know it once again. I see the Rays taking a big lead early and holding on until the very end, winning this game in a very comfortable fashion. Lay the 1.5 with the Tampa Bay Rays in this one.
