The Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves face off on Monday in a National League East showdown at SunTrust Bank. These two squads have faced off three times so far this year with the Braves winning two of the games.
The Miami Marlins haven’t been terrible this season, but as of late they have struggled a little more losing three of the last four games. The one win during that stretch was two games ago against the Rays, a game they put up seven runs in. On offense the best player for the Marlins has been Jesus Aguilar who has hit five home runs and driving in 22 RBI’s. The offense can’t keep scoring three or four points and expecting to win.
On the other side of this matchup is the Braves who came away with a win on Sunday, but before that they had lost two games in a row. In each of the two losses, the Braves gave up ten runs, and even though the offense has been good, they haven’t been able to make up for the bad pitching. Freddie Freeman has hit two grand slams in his last three starts, and Marcell Ozuna also drove in four runs on Sunday.
Jose Urena will be on the mound for the Marlins and this is his first start of the season after dealing with COVID-19. Lifetime against the Braves he has gone 2-8 with an ERA of 6.64.
Ian Anderson will get the start Braves and he has been good this year sitting with a 2-0 record and an ERA 2.25.
The over is 16-5-1 in the Marlins last 22 games played on Monday. The Braves are 50-24 in their last 74 home games. The Marlins are 5-22 in their last 27 meetings in Atlanta against the Braves. The Marlins are 15-39 in the last 54 meetings against the Braves.
Urena has struggled against the Braves in his career and this will be his first start of the season. Look for the Braves and Freeman to run up the score again and that will lead to them winning this game on the run line.
