The San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics face off in an interleague showdown on Sunday at the Oakland Coliseum. The Padres were able to pull off a win in their first game, but in the second game it was the A’s who got some revenge winning 8-4.
The San Diego Padres have found all kinds of success this season, but coming into this game they have lost two of the last three games. In the two losses the Padres were able to score only four runs total, and the offense needs to be better going forward. Fernando Tatis Jr has been the star of the show for the visiting team hitting 14 home runs and driving in 37 RBI’s. Manny Machado has also been a star hitting 12 home runs and driving in 34 RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the A’s who finally got their season back on the right track in the last game after losing three games in a row. The As’s offense hasn’t been as strong as of late, and on Sunday, the offense is going to need to take advantage. On Saturday, Matt Olson and Ramon Laureno both drove in two runs. Matt Olson and Matt Chapman have both hit ten home runs on the season.
Garrett Richards will get the start for the Padres and coming into this game he sits with a 1-2 record and an ERA of 4.63.
On the mound for the A’s will be Mike Fiers who comes into this game with a 4-1 record and an ERA of 4.86. Fiers has pitched 36 innings so far this year.
The over is 10-3 in the Padres last 13 games as a favorite. The Padres are 11-4 in their last 15 interleague games. The A’s are 41-15 in their last 56 home games. The A’s are 20-9 in their last 29 games overall. The over is 18-6-2 in the Padres last 26 interleague games.
Friers has the better record but he has also given up plenty of runs this season. Look for both teams to have no issue running up the score and this game will go well over the posted total.
