The New York Yankees face the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, September 6th at Camden Yards for game four of a four-game series.
The Baltimore Orioles took down the New York Yankees by the final score of 6-1 on Saturday night. Gerrit Cole earned yet another loss for the Yankees, even though he did not pitch too poorly. Cole struck out 10 batters and only allowed one earned run through 6.0 innings, but the Yankees' bats and defenders were not able to back him up. The Orioles took advantage of Yankee's mistakes, and they went on to win their second straight game against the Yanks and their 18th game of the season. The Orioles are three games under .500 at 18-21, while the Yankees are inversely 21-18 and are 5.5 games behind the Rays in the AL East standings. One piece of good news for the Yankees is that shortstop Gleyber Torres was reinstated from the IL (Injured List).
The New York Yankees will send right-hander Masahiro Tanaka to the mound to face the Orioles. Tanaka is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA through his first 26.2 innings of the season with the Yankees. Tanaka allowed two earned runs through 6.0 innings against the Rays in his most recent start on September 1st.
The Baltimore Orioles are set to bring right-hander Asher Wojciechowski to the bump for Sunday's contest. Wojciechowski is 1-3 with a 5.17 ERA through his first 31.1 innings of the season with the O's. Wojciechowski allowed three earned runs off seven base hits through 5.0 against the Mets in his last outing on September 1st. Wojciechowski has allowed exactly three earned runs in all four of his last four starts, which is quite an interesting stat. Wojciechowski does not usually work too far into ballgames, so expect the Orioles to use a solid chunk of their bullpen in this game, especially if Wojciechowski struggles.
The Yankees are in desperate need of a win, and I think they get one with Tanaka on the mound. The Yankees' offense is lost without guys like Judge and Stanton, but I think the current Yankees can do enough to get the job done here on the road. I will lay the 1.5 on the run line with the Yankees.
