The Miami Marlins face the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, September 6th at Tropicana Field for game three of a three-game series.
The Miami Marlins were finally able to defeat their in-state rivals in the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night by the final score of 7-3 in game number five of their season series. The Marlins were able to get to left-hander Blake Snell in the fourth and fifth inning, earning five runs. Corey Dickerson hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth, as that was the only long ball of the night for either team. The Marlins are now back to playing .500 ball at 17-17 on the year. The Marlin's season thus far has been quite the surprise to many, and the fish will look to win the three-game series on Sunday. The Rays' loss snaps a two-game win streak, but Tampa Bay is still 14 games above .500 at 27-13. The Rays are the kings of the AL East as of now, as they hold a 5.0 game lead on the division.
The Miami Marlins will bring left-hander Trevor Rogers to the mound to face the Rays. Rogers is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA through his first 9.0 innings of the season with the Marlins. Rogers allowed two earned runs through 5.0 innings against the Mets in his most recent outing. Rogers is a rookie in the league playing in his first season in the MLB.
The Tampa Bay Rays are set to bring right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the bump for Sunday's game. Glasnow is 2-1 with a 4.24 ERA through his first 34.0 innings of the season with the Rays. Glasnow tossed 6.0 beautiful innings against the Yankees in his last start, not allowing a single run and striking out nine batters. Glasnow's best feature on the mound is his ability to miss bats, as he is one of the league's best starters regarding the strikeout.
The Rays are big favorites with Glasnow on the mound, as he looked very sharp in his last outing in the Bronx. I like both teams to pitch well in this final game of the season series, and I like the under to hit in this one.
