The San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies face off on in a National League West showdown at Coors Field. These two squads have faced off three times so far in this series and it’s been the Rockies who have won two of Padres who have won two of the games.
The Padres have to feel really good about how this season has gone so far and this series they have also found a lot of success. On Sunday the Padres offense was elite, something that has been the case most of the year putting up 13 runs. Eric Hosmer was the star of the show on Sunday having two hits and three RBI’s. Fernando Tatis Jr looks like he could win the MVP and coming into this game he sits with 13 home runs and 31 RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Colorado Rockies who haven’t been terrible this year but they can’t be happy with the way they have played in this series. In two of the games for the Rockies, the pitching staff was terrible, something that isn’t unusual at Coors Field, but the offense couldn’t get going. Charlie Blackmon has been the star for the show for the Rockies hitting four home runs and driving in 28 RBI’s.
There hasn’t been a starting pitcher announced for the Padres, and depending on trades that may happen during the day, this could be a bullpen game.
On the mound for the Rockies will be German Marquez who comes into this game with a 2-4 record and an ERA of 4.50.
The Padres are 9-3 in their last 12 games overall. The Padres are 9-21 in their last 30 road games. The Rockies are 2-6 in their eight home games. The over is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings between the Padres and Rockies in Colorado. The over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between the Rockies and Padres.
Marquez hasn’t been great this season and there are going to be plenty of runs given up in this game. Look for both teams to run up the score and this game is going t ogo well over the total.
