The Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox face off in an interleague showdown on Sunday at Fenway Park. On Saturday it was the Red Sox who jumped out to a lead early and that was enough for the Red Sox to come away with a win.
The Nationals have been a big disappointment but they can still get a series win with a victory in this game. The Nationals didn’t look good on Saturday but in the first game of the series the offense was really good putting up ten runs and that led to a victory. Juan Soto and Trea Turner have been good this season but outside of those two guys the Nationals need others to step up.
On the other side of this matchup is the Boston REd Sox who have also really struggled this year and they had lost two games in a row heading into Saturday’s game. In those two losses the Red Sox had only scored three runs total and for them to have any chance in this game they need the offense to be better. Xander Bogaerts was the best player for the Red Sox on Saturday driving in three runs.
The Nationals will send Austin Voth to the mound and he comes into this game with an 0-3 record and an ERA of 6.65. Too often Voth has gotten hit early and not given, the Nationals good innings.
On the mound for the Boston Red Sox is Zack Godley who comes into this game with an 0-3 record and and an ERA of 7.29
The over is 13-3-1 in the Nationals last 17 games played on grass. The Nationals are 16-5 in their last 21 road games. The Red Sox are 8-22 in their last 30 home games. The REd Sox are 8-21 in their last 29 games on grass. The over is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings between the Nationals and Red Sox.
These are two pitchers who haven’t been good, and there is no reason to believe that both of these pitchers won’t get close to ten runs, which is going to push this game well over the total.
