The Los Angeles Dodgers face the Texas Rangers on Sunday, August 30th at Globe Life Field for game three of a three-game series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Texas Rangers by the final score of 7-4 on Saturday night. The Dodgers evened up the series, as Sunday's game will not only be the rubber match of the series, but also the season series. The Dodgers were led by their powerful lefty bats of Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy on Saturday, as they both cashed in on home runs in the three-run win. The Dodgers are now 25-10 on the year, as they have a 5.0 game lead over the Padres for first place in the NL West division. The Texas Rangers are now 12-20 on the year and have lost three of their last four games overall. The Rangers would love to pull off the upset and win the series with a victory on Sunday, but it should be an uphill battle.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to bring right-hander Tony Gonsolin to the mound to face the Rangers. Gonsolin is 0-0 with an 0.00 ERA through his first 14.2 innings of the season. That is right, Gonsolin has not allowed an earned run all season long for the Dodgers, so he earns the start in this one against Texas.
The Texas Rangers will send right-hander Kyle Gibson to the bump for Sunday's game. Gibson is 1-3 with a 5.73 ERA through his first 33.0 innings of the season for the Rangers. Gibson is coming off a rough start against the Athletics in which he allowed seven earned runs in an eventual 10-3 loss. Gibson has allowed 12 earned runs in his last 11.1 innings pitched, therefore he has struggled quite a bit recently.
The Dodgers are huge favorites in this one, so taking them on the money line is out of the question. Gonsolin has pitched very well this season, and I think he will continue his hot start against the Rangers on Sunday. Kyle Gibson is in trouble, and I will take the Dodgers on the run line.
