The New York Mets face the New York Yankees on Saturday, August 29th at Yankee Stadium for game three of a five-game series.
The New York Mets stunned the New York Yankees on Friday, as the Mets swept both games of a doubleheader against their cross-town rivals. The Yankees could have easily won both of these games, but blown leads late in games cost the Bronx Bombers of two imperative victories. In the first game, the Yankees got off to a quick 4-0 lead. The Mets would pour it on Chad Green in the top of the sixth for six runs, and they would hold a 6-4 lead for their first win of the day. The Yankees would then take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning in the second game, with their fireball closer Aroldis Chapman in the game to try and earn the save. Chapman allowed a walk-off two-run home run to Amed Rosario, as the Mets swept the Yanks in stunning fashion. It is not too often where the Mets walk-off the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, but expect the unexpected in 2020 I guess.
The New York Mets are set to bring right-hander Robert Gsellman to the mound to face the Yankees. Gsellman is 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA through his first 4.2 innings of the season with the Mets. Gsellman has only started in two games this season, and he has only made it through 2.0 innings at the most so far in 2020.
The New York Yankees will send left-hander J.A. Happ to the bump for Saturday's game. Happ is 1-1 with a 6.39 ERA through his first 12.2 innings of the season. Happ has not pitched since August 16th, and in that start against the Red Sox, he allowed one earned run through 5.2 innings in a 4-2 Yankees win.
The line has not been released for this game yet, so be sure to check back soon for updates regarding the odds. I think the Yankees are going to bounce back and put an end to their horrific seven-game losing streak on Saturday. I do not, however, think this will be a pretty win for the Bronx Bombers, and I expect lots of runs to cross the plate. I will lean on the Yankees, but the best play for me is on the over.
