The St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins will face off in an interleague showdown at Target Field on Tuesday night. These are both teams who have high expectations for the season and this is a big game for both squads. Both of these teams had a day off on Monday.
The St. Louis Cardinals opened up their season with winning two of their three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cardinals won their first two games, but in game three of the series they scored only one run and that led to a loss. On offense, the Cardinals have been led by Paul DeJong who has hit one home run and driven in four RBI’s.
The Minnesota Twins also found a lot of success in their season-opening series against the Chicago White Sox. In two of the three games, the Twins offense ran up the score and each of those two games they were able to come away with a win. In the last game, the Twins put up 14 runs led by Nelson Cruz who had two home runs and seven RBI’s.
Carlos Martinez will get the start for the St. Louis Cardinals and last season he had most of his games out of the bullpen finishing with a 4-2 record and an ERA of 3.17. Homer Bailey will get the start for the Twins and although he struggled in his last exhibition start there are high expectations that he can be better this season.
The under is 12-1-1 in the last 14 meetings played between the Twins and Cardinals. The Twins are 36-15 in their last 51 games played as a favorite. The under is 9-2-2 in the last 13 games played on Tuesday. The under is 28-11-2 in the Cardinals last 41 games played in interleague showdowns.
On paper this looks like a strong pitching matchup and that is going to play out in this game. This is a very high total because of the Twins offense but it’s too high. Back the under to cash in this game. It's also a lean to the Twins on the money line.
