Now that we have determined who the current top five golfers in overall scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week's field) let's shift our focus to my favorite matchup bets for the 2024 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.

Rory McIlroy -150 over Cam Young

Rory McIlroy has accumulated six top 24 finishes in his last seven events played (PGA and DP World Tours combined), including a win at the 2024 Hero Dubai Desert Classic last month.

In relation to this week's 2024 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches field, in the last 50 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Rory McIlroy ranks first in strokes gained off the tee, third in GIR (greens in regulation), and first in birdie or better percentage.    

Additionally, Mcilroy finished second at the 2014 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.

C.T. Pan -125 over Garrick Higgo

Last week, C.T. Pan fired a final round 65 at the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidanta en route to an eventual third place result. 

Due to the fact that Pan posted a quality result at last week's PGA Tour tournament I decided to take a hard look at the player statistics for the event to see how Pan fared relative to the field. 

Upon the completion of four rounds of play at the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidanta, relative to the field, C.T. Pan ranked third in strokes gained around the green and tenth in birdie or better percentage.

It should be noted that Pan has played well at PGA National previously. Pan finished third at the 2021 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.
