This Thursday, the PGA Tour presents golf bettors with the first round of the 2024 Sentry.

The 2024 Sentry will be played at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii. The golf course is a par 73 that measures approximately 7,596 yards.

Before I dive into my favorite tournament matchup bets for the opening event of the season let's take a look at the current leaders in GIR (greens in regulation) on the PGA Tour that are in this week's field.

Top Five Golfers in GIR

  • Scottie Scheffler 74.43%
  • Ludvig Aberg  73.33%
  • Collin Morikawa 70.99%
  • Luke List 70.78%
  • Akshay Bhatia 70.63% 

Now that we have identified who the current top five golfers in GIR (greens in regulation) are on the PGA Tour (in this week's field) let's shift our focus to my favorite tournament matchup bets for the 2024 Sentry.

Ludvig Aberg -130 over Tom Kim

Since the beginning of August, Ludvig Aberg has played eight tournaments (DP World and PGA Tours combined). In those eight events just mentioned, Ludvig Aberg has accumulated an impressive six top ten finishes, including two wins (2023 RSM Classic: 2023 Omega European Masters).

In my opinion, the Plantation Course is a perfect fit for Ludvig Aberg's skills. Having stated that, I am backing Ludvig Aberg to defeat Tom Kim at odds of -130.

Cameron Davis +100 over Eric Cole

The talented young Australian has accumulated four top 17 finishes in his last five tournaments played (PGA and DP World Tours combined), including a third place result at the 2023 Fortinet Championship in September.

In relation to this week's current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Cameron Davis ranks third in bogey avoidance, tenth in driving accuracy, and 12th in strokes gained around the green.

It should also be noted that Cameron Davis finished tenth at the 2021 Sentry.
