This week, the PGA Tour travels to the beautiful shores of Hawaii for the 2024 Sentry.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament bets for the 2024 Sentry let's take a look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I feel are the most vital to a golfer's success at this week's PGA Tour event.
The 2024 Sentry will be played at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii. The golf course is a par 73 that measures approximately 7,596 yards. This track will present the field with rather large wide fairways off the tee.
The 2024 Sentry will have a limited field of 59 golfers. Additionally, this tournament will not have a standard cut after two rounds. All 59 players will play all four rounds.
The key player statistics that I will be focusing on this week are birdie or better percentage, strokes gained approach, bogey avoidance, and strokes gained putting.
Now let's shift our focus to my favorite tournament bets for the 2024 Sentry.
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top five.
Max Homa +280
Since the beginning of August, Max Homa has played six events (DP World and PGA Tours combined). In those six tournaments just mentioned, Max Homa accumulated six consecutive top 13 finishes, including a win at the 2023 Nedbank Challenge in November.
In relation to this week's current listed 2024 Sentry field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Max Homa ranks eighth in birdie or better percentage, sixth in bogey avoidance, and eighth in strokes gained off the tee.
It should also be noted that Max Homa finished third at the 2023 Sentry.
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20.
Erik Van Rooyen +350
Since the beginning of August, Erik Van Rooyen has played seven tournaments (DP World and PGA Tours combined). In those seven events just noted, Erik Van Rooyen accumulated an impressive five top 23 finishes, including a win at the 2023 World Wide Technology Championship in November.
Additionally, Erik Van Rooyen finished 25th at the 2022 Sentry.
